- • A Hindi dandiya card needs six lines in order: शीर्षक, आयोजक, तिथि, समय, स्थान and ड्रेस कोड, closing with an RSVP line.
- • Print the end time: under the Noise Pollution Rules, 2000, loudspeakers outside closed premises stop at 10 pm unless the State allows up to midnight, for at most 15 festive days a year.
- • Put Devanagari on the card and romanised Hindi in the WhatsApp text; in a 6,983-post study of Hindi-English bilinguals, Roman script was the largest share.
- • 48.3% of shared SubhSandesh pages are opened on a phone, so size the card for a small screen.
- • The Be My Dandiya Partner page is for one person only; its interface is English and it is the wrong tool for a society or office invite.

Dandiya Invitation Card in Hindi: 9 Wordings by Event Type
A dandiya invitation card in Hindi needs six lines in a fixed order: शीर्षक (heading), आयोजक (host), तिथि (date), समय (start and end time), स्थान (venue) and ड्रेस कोड, closing with an RSVP line. The wording changes with the guest list, so here are nine original Hindi wordings for a society or club night, a dandiya at home, and a one-to-one "be my dandiya partner" ask, each in Devanagari, romanised Hindi and English.
From SubhSandesh's own data, 48.3% of shared pages are opened on a phone, so a card has to read on a small screen. And in the nearest festival we have measured, Raksha Bandhan 2026 (n=89), 49.4% of pages were built on the festival day itself. Sent that late, an invitation loses guests, so plan the society formats three days ahead.
What goes on a dandiya invitation card in Hindi?
A dandiya invitation card is a short notice, printed or sent as an image, telling guests which Navratri night the dandiya raas is, where, and what to wear. In Hindi it follows a wedding card's order: blessing or heading, then the facts, then the request to reply.
The line people forget is the end time. Under India's Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, a loudspeaker cannot be used between 10 pm and 6 am outside closed premises such as a community hall.
A State Government can allow it until midnight on festive occasions, for no more than 15 days in a calendar year, and names those days in advance. So print "रात 10 बजे तक" (raat 10 baje tak, till 10 pm) unless your society or club has confirmed the extension for that night.
Romanised, the labels read shirshak, aayojak, tithi, samay, sthaan, dress code and kripya soochit karein (please let us know). Hindi cards keep "dress code" in English.
Should the card be in Devanagari or romanised Hindi?
Use both: Devanagari on the card image, romanised Hindi in the WhatsApp text you send with it. Informal Hindi online is mostly typed in the Roman alphabet.
In a 2014 study of English–Hindi code-mixing on Facebook, Bali and colleagues collected 6,983 posts and comments from Hindi–English bilinguals. The largest share was written in Roman script, not Devanagari, and 17.2% of all posts mixed English into Hindi or Hindi into English.
A 2023 paper by Nielsen, Kirov and Roark describes Hindi as "widely informally romanized" (abstract read only). A guest who reads Devanagari slowly will still reply to "Aap sab aamantrit hain".
9 Hindi dandiya invitation wordings, by event type
Every wording is original: change the bracketed parts and keep the line order. Each gives the Devanagari card text, then the romanised line for WhatsApp, then an English gloss.

- Years married, and you are still my favourite dandiya pair. This Saturday, just the two of us?
Society card, home card or one-to-one invite: which format fits?
The three groups differ in delivery, lead time and the right tool. Group cards depend on logistics; the one-to-one ask depends on the question.
| Format | Typical guest list | Lines that must be on it | Send it | Right tool |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Society or club card (1–3) | 50+ flats or pass holders | All six labels plus end time and pass rule | 3–5 days ahead, notice board plus society WhatsApp group | A printed or image card; /dandiya-partner is the wrong tool |
| Home dandiya (4–6) | 15–40 relatives or friends | Date, time, address, "sticks provided" | 2–3 days ahead, one image plus wording 6 | An image card in family groups |
| One-to-one ask (7–9) | 1 person | The question, the night, the venue | Before they plan with someone else | /dandiya-partner: nine lines, up to six photos, a 1080×1920 Dandiya Pass |
Where the Be My Dandiya Partner page fits, and where it does not
Wordings 7 to 9 are a question to one person, and that is the only case where a SubhSandesh page beats a card image. The Be My Dandiya Partner invitation lets you add both names, nine short lines (one for each night of Navratri), a note, up to six photos and the night's date, time, venue and dress code.
The recipient clashes dandiya sticks to open an envelope, lights nine diyas round a garbo and reaches the question. The No button twirls away, and after five tries turns into a second Yes.
A yes produces a 1080×1920 Dandiya Pass, Instagram Story size, and you get an email. A password is optional at publish; across SubhSandesh, 38.5% of creators set one.
The page's interface is in English, and the lines are text you write yourself, so type one Devanagari line and check it in preview before you publish. It is a one-to-one invitation, the wrong tool for a society, club or office invite, and it does not sell garba passes or find anyone a partner.
If the plan is bigger than dandiya, say dinner first and then the garba ground, The Invitation page suits better. A yes there turns into a countdown, and on the day the plan unlocks one stop at a time.
When a Hindi dandiya card is the wrong choice
Three cases call for something else: a Gujarati-speaking society, an office, and guests over 70 who do not use WhatsApp. In Ahmedabad or Surat a Gujarati card reads as the host's own voice, and for an office dandiya English is safer because the guest list spans languages.
For older guests the 48.3% phone figure cuts the other way. A printed card or a call reaches them where an image does not.
Sharad Navratri runs from 11 to 19 October in 2026, with Dussehra on 20 October (21 October in Bengal and Mysuru); in 2027 it runs from 30 September to 8 October. Send a society card in the first days of Navratri, and do not leave a one-to-one ask for the night itself: 49.4% of Raksha Bandhan pages were built on the day, and by then your partner may have other plans.
