- • Meta recommends 4:5 at 1440 × 1800 pixels for an Instagram Feed image ad; LinkedIn recommends 1200 × 627 for a Page post with a link (both read 22 October 2026).
- • X's developer page caps images at 5 MB and publishes no recommended canvas, so one 4:5 master with a 1.91:1 crop covers all three platforms.
- • 48.3% of SubhSandesh pages are opened on a phone, so keep price and date in the middle third of the frame.
- • In SubhSandesh's Raksha Bandhan 2026 data (n = 89), 76.4% of personal greetings were made on the day or the day before: offer on Dhanteras, 27 October 2027, and greet on 29 October.
- • ASCI's AI-content guideline (signed 17 September 2026) needs no label for decorative AI backgrounds but bans AI customer testimonials outright.

Diwali Social Media Post for Business: Ideas, Sizes and Rules
A Diwali social media post for business works when it is built for a phone, scheduled ahead of the personal rush, and makes only claims you can prove. On SubhSandesh, 48.3% of shared pages are opened on a phone (27,725 of 57,456 views, measured 24 September 2026), so design for the phone first.
Timing matters as much: in our Raksha Bandhan 2026 data, the nearest festival we have measured (n = 89 pages, a small sample), 49.4% of personal greetings were made on the festival day and 27.0% the day before. So for Diwali on Friday 29 October 2027, run offers by Dhanteras on Wednesday 27 October, let the greeting stand alone on the day, and use the eight ideas, official sizes, schedule and ASCI rules below.
What makes a business Diwali post different from a personal one?
A business Diwali post is anything a brand, shop or firm publishes on its own account during Diwali week, from a greeting to a Dhanteras offer. Once it promotes a product or a price it is an advertisement, and the ASCI Code applies in any medium.
Every factual claim must then be provable if ASCI asks, and nothing may mislead "by implication or by omission". A greeting with no product carries none of that weight, so keep the greeting and the offer in separate posts.
8 Diwali post ideas for a business, with copy you can adapt
Each idea names who it suits and gives a line written for this page. Fill every bracket with a real detail.
1. The Diwali week hours post
A plain card listing your hours from 27 to 31 October 2027, posted about a week ahead. It suits shops, clinics, salons and restaurants, as one 4:5 feed image plus a pinned Story.
- "Diwali week at [shop]: open 10 am to 9 pm on Dhanteras, Wednesday 27 October. Closed Friday 29 October so our team can light their own diyas. Back Saturday morning."
2. The hand-held product shot
The mithai box, silver coin or lamp held in a hand, no face in frame, for any product business. A 2026 experiment with 460 adults (Qu and Lee, Behavioral Sciences) found this "brand selfie" drew lower persuasion knowledge and higher purchase intention than a face-and-product selfie, with a plain product shot in between.
- "Held by the hands that packed it. Diwali boxes from ₹[amount], GST and delivery included."
3. The last-order-date post
The delivery cut-off before Lakshmi Puja, with a day, a date and a time. It suits sweet shops, florists and gifting brands, and an honest date keeps you clear of the Code's bar on claims that cause "grave or widespread disappointment".
- "Want it there before Lakshmi Puja? Order by [day, date], [time]. After that we'll still pack it with care, but we can't promise the day."
4. The staff thank-you
Name one person behind the season, with their consent, and say what they did. It suits small teams and B2B firms on LinkedIn; if that employee also promotes the brand on a personal account, ASCI lists "Employee" as a disclosure label.
- "Meet [name], who has packed every corporate hamper this month and still ties each ribbon by hand. Thank you, [name], from all of us."
5. The Dhanteras offer with the full price
One offer, one date, at the price a buyer actually pays. ASCI's digital guidelines call drip pricing misleading: non-optional taxes and fees that apply to most buyers belong in the price shown.
- "Dhanteras, Wednesday 27 October: [x]% off silver coins on the price you pay at billing, GST and making charges included. Ends 11:59 pm that night."
6. The customer photo repost
A customer's photo of your lamps or sweets on their own table, asked for and credited. If you gave them anything of value for posting, their post is an ad under ASCI's influencer guidelines and needs a label such as "Collaboration" or "Free gift".
- "Your balcony, our lamps. Thank you, @[handle], for letting us share this (reposted with permission)."
7. The Lakshmi Puja greeting with nothing to sell
A greeting image or a few lines, with no price, code or link. It suits every business, and none of the offer rules below touch it.
- "No offer today. Just a lamp in our window and a thank-you to everyone who walked through our door this year. Shubh Deepavali."
8. The reopening note
A post on 30 or 31 October saying when normal service resumes. It suits anyone who closed, and answers the messages before they arrive.
- "Your Diwali orders reached home, and so did we. We reopen Monday 1 November at [time], kettle already on."
Image sizes from LinkedIn, Meta and X, as of October 2026
Every number below comes from the platform's own page, read on 22 October 2026. Recheck in the week you design.
- Meta, Instagram Feed ad: the Meta Ads Guide recommends 4:5 at 1440 × 1800 pixels, JPG or PNG, up to 30 MB, with 125 characters of primary text and a 40-character headline.
- LinkedIn Page post with a link: LinkedIn Help gives 1.91:1 at 1200 × 627 pixels. The Page logo is 400 × 400 and the cover 1512 × 256.
- X: the X developer documentation caps still images at 5 MB in JPG, PNG, GIF or WEBP. It publishes no recommended canvas, so treat any exact "X post size" elsewhere as a guess.
Design once at 4:5 and crop a 1.91:1 version for LinkedIn. With 48.4% of SubhSandesh views on a touch device, keep the price and date in the middle third, where no crop reaches.
A five-date posting schedule for Diwali 2027
The table sets each post beside when people made personal greetings on SubhSandesh for Raksha Bandhan 2026. That is a one-day festival and only 89 pages, so read the last column as a direction, not a forecast.
| Date (2027) | Diwali day | What to schedule | Raksha Bandhan 2026 greetings made (n = 89) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fri 22 to Mon 25 Oct | Four or more days ahead | Hours post, last-order date | 6.7% four or more days ahead |
| Wed 27 Oct | Dhanteras | The one offer, full price shown | 5.6% two to three days ahead |
| Thu 28 Oct | Choti Diwali | Staff thank-you | 27.0% the day before |
| Fri 29 Oct | Lakshmi Puja | Greeting with nothing to sell | 49.4% on the day |
| Sat 30 to Sun 31 Oct | Govardhan Puja, Bhai Dooj | Reopening note, reposts | 11.2% after the day |
Personal greeting-making sat in the last two days, 76.4% of it, and not one of the 89 pages was made more than seven days ahead. A brand selling on those two days competes with people's own families for the same thumb, so the offer belongs on Dhanteras and the day itself belongs to the greeting.
ASCI rules a festive offer post must clear
These clauses from the ASCI Code and the ASCI guidelines page are the likeliest to catch a Diwali post. Both were read on 22 October 2026.
- Children and fire. For ads addressed to children, the Code names showing them "using or playing with matches or any inflammable or explosive substance" as harm. Keep sparklers out of children's hands in anything that sells.
- Disclaimers. A disclaimer may clarify a claim, never contradict it: "all products" cannot shrink to "select products". Place it beside or just below the claim, in the same language, not in italics.
- Video disclaimers. Two lines at most, held at least 4 seconds per line; on a 1080-line frame, lower-case letters at least 26 pixels tall.
- False urgency. "Only 20 left" must match the stock you held when the post went up.
- Disguised ads. A paid post styled like organic content must say it is an ad; permitted labels include Ad, Sponsored, Collaboration, Partnership and Affiliate.
AI-made Diwali creatives under ASCI's September 2026 guideline
ASCI's guidelines on labelling synthetically generated content were signed on 17 September 2026 and take effect three months after publication, well before Diwali 2027. They judge the outcome, not the tool.
- No label needed: an AI background of diyas or a skyline, obvious fantasy, routine colour correction, AI-written copy.
- Label needed: a synthetic influencer, a real person's face or voice replicated even with consent, or an AI scene that shapes how buyers see the product, labelled for example "Video created using AI".
- Not allowed even with a label: an AI "customer" testimonial, a shop that does not exist shown as real, or a result the product cannot deliver.
An AI-drawn rangoli behind a real photo of your sweet boxes needs no label. An AI family presented as your customers is a fabricated endorsement, and no label rescues it.
Where SubhSandesh fits, and where it does not
SubhSandesh is not a tool for a brand feed. Its Diwali page is a private card for one person, with a diya at their door, wish diyas, sky lanterns carrying six of your photos and a letter in a shagun liffafa; its modes are partner, family or friend, not a customer list.
It fits the one relationship behind the business, such as the co-founder who carried the year. It takes about five minutes and needs no app, so send that person an interactive Diwali card they light diya by diya on Diwali evening and keep the public post for everyone else. If Diwali is not their occasion, browse the full set of SubhSandesh templates.
When a social media post is the wrong move for your business
If your customers are thirty regulars you know by name, a personal WhatsApp message reaches them better than a feed post the platform may never show. Banks, insurers and clinics carry an extra rule: ASCI's addendum of 6 March 2025 requires influencers advising on finance or health to state their qualifications upfront.
The evidence here has limits too. The photo study in idea 2 recruited online through Amazon Mechanical Turk, not Indian festival shoppers, so test it against your usual product photo first.
