- • The nine forms in order are Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri and Siddhidatri, as listed in verses 3–5 of the Devi Kavacham.
- • In 2026 Saptami spans 17 and 18 October, so Mahagauri's Ashtami and Maha Navami both fall on 19 October in New Delhi; Day 8 is not Mahagauri's day.
- • On Raksha Bandhan 2026, SubhSandesh's nearest measured festival, 49.4% of pages were built on the festival day itself (n=89), so write all nine lines on Day 1 and send each on its morning.
- • Navratri colours for days 1–7 follow the weekday; days 8–9 change by year: purple and peacock green in 2026, pink and purple in 2027.

Navratri Day Wise Wishes for All Nine Forms of Durga
Navratri day wise wishes work best when each names that day's form of Durga: Shailaputri on Day 1, then Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri on the ninth. Below are 27 original lines, three per form (family, friend, short status), each with one line on what that form stands for.
Send each on its own morning. On Raksha Bandhan 2026, our nearest measured festival (n=89, not Navratri data), 49.4% of SubhSandesh pages were built on the festival day itself, and 48.3% of all shared pages are opened on a phone, so short lines win.
The catch: a goddess belongs to a tithi, not a day number. In 2026 Saptami covers 17 and 18 October, and Mahagauri's Ashtami falls on 19 October in New Delhi, with Maha Navami.
What is a Navratri day-wise wish?
A day-wise wish is a short greeting that names the goddess worshipped on that day's tithi. The order is fixed by the Devi Kavacham, whose verses 3 to 5 list the nine from Shailaputri to Siddhidatri and name them the Navadurga.
The word is not universal. In Bhaktapur, Nepal, Navadurga is a masked ritual dance whose masks the Chitrakar family paints each year, honours during Dasain and then ritually destroys, per a 2025 HIMALAYA journal study. The wishes below follow the Devi Kavacham list.
Which date each form falls on in 2026 and 2027
Read this table by form, not by date. It is built from Drik Panchang's New Delhi calendars for 2026 and 2027, with each date's colour.
| Form | Tithi | 2026 (New Delhi) | 2027 (New Delhi) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shailaputri | Pratipada | Sun 11 Oct, orange | Thu 30 Sep (Amavasya at sunrise), yellow |
| Brahmacharini | Dwitiya | Mon 12 Oct, white | Fri 1 Oct, green |
| Chandraghanta | Tritiya | Tue 13 Oct, red | Sat 2 Oct, grey |
| Kushmanda | Chaturthi | Wed 14 Oct, royal blue | Sun 3 Oct, orange |
| Skandamata | Panchami | Thu 15 Oct, yellow | Mon 4 Oct, white |
| Katyayani | Shashthi | Fri 16 Oct, green | Tue 5 Oct, red |
| Kalaratri | Saptami | Sat 17 Oct, grey; Sun 18 Oct (still Saptami), purple | Wed 6 Oct, royal blue |
| Mahagauri | Ashtami | Mon 19 Oct, peacock green (Ashtami from 8:27 AM, 18 Oct) | Thu 7 Oct, pink |
| Siddhidatri | Navami | Mon 19 Oct from 10:51 AM (Maha Navami); Ayudha Puja Tue 20 Oct | Fri 8 Oct, purple (Maha Navami, Navami from 6:27 AM) |
Several 2026 wish lists, including the top US-served result we checked, put Mahagauri on 18 October. In 2027 the clash disappears.
Within days 1 to 7 the colour follows the weekday, so Sunday is orange and Saturday grey. Days 8 and 9 break that rule: purple and peacock green in 2026, pink and purple in 2027.
Vijayadashami is 20 October 2026 in Delhi and 21 October in Bengal and Mysuru; in 2027 it is 9 October, and 10 October in Bengal. Outside India, check your own city: Drik's US listing shows Ashtami on 18 October 2026.
Wishes for the first three forms: beginnings
Pratipada to Tritiya fall on 11 to 13 October 2026 and 30 September to 2 October 2027. Each form gets one line of iconography checked against Drik Panchang's Navdurga pages, then a family line for elders, a friend line for chats and a status line for WhatsApp or Instagram.
Shailaputri, daughter of the mountain (Pratipada, Day 1)
She rides a bull, holding a trident and a lotus. She stands for beginnings.
- Family: "The kalash is in place and the first diya is lit. May Maa Shailaputri give this house the patience of a mountain."
- Friend: "Day 1, Shailaputri. Whatever you're starting, may it stand on solid rock."
- Status: "Day 1: Shailaputri. First step, nine to go."
Brahmacharini, the one who keeps going (Dwitiya, Day 2)
She walks barefoot with a rosary and a kamandal. Her story is long penance.
- Family: "On Brahmacharini's day, a prayer for everyone in this family quietly working towards something. May the effort be seen."
- Friend: "Brahmacharini walked barefoot and didn't stop. Day 2 belongs to whatever you're grinding on."
- Status: "Day 2: Brahmacharini. Discipline is devotion too."
Chandraghanta, the bell-shaped moon (Tritiya, Day 3)
A bell-shaped half-moon sits on her forehead, and she rides a tigress. Her day is about losing fear.
- Family: "Maa Chandraghanta wears the moon like a bell. May its sound walk every worry out of our home."
- Friend: "Day 3 is Chandraghanta: ready for battle and still calm. Be both this week."
- Status: "Day 3: Chandraghanta. Ring the bell, drop the fear."
Wishes for the middle three forms: creation and care
Chaturthi to Shashthi fall on 14 to 16 October 2026 and 3 to 5 October 2027, with no tithi clash in either year. The arc runs from a cosmic smile to a mother and a daughter.
Kushmanda, the smile that made the universe (Chaturthi, Day 4)
Drik says she created the cosmos with a smile. Her name is also Sanskrit for ash gourd, which a 2025 review in the Journal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences notes is used in Durga Puja ritual.
- Family: "Maa Kushmanda made the universe with one smile. May this house have enough smiles today to light a small one."
- Friend: "Kushmanda's day. One smile started the cosmos; yours can fix this week."
- Status: "Day 4: Kushmanda. Smile like you're starting a universe."
Skandamata, mother of Skanda (Panchami, Day 5)
She sits on a lotus with the infant Kartikeya on her lap. Her day suits a message to your mother.
- Family: "Skandamata holds her son through every battle. Maa, you did the same for us. Happy fifth day of Navratri."
- Friend: "Day 5, Skandamata. Call your mother today; the goddess will understand."
- Status: "Day 5: Skandamata. For every lap that held us."
Katyayani, born in the sage Katya's home (Shashthi, Day 6)
She rides a lion, carrying a lotus and a sword. Her day honours daughters.
- Family: "May every daughter in our family have what Maa Katyayani had: a good home and a lion when needed."
- Friend: "Katyayani's day. Lotus in one hand, sword in the other. Stay soft, stay armed."
- Status: "Day 6: Katyayani. Lotus and sword, both."
Wishes for the last three forms: where the dates slip
In 2027 these fall on 6, 7 and 8 October. In 2026 Saptami covers two dates and the last two forms share Monday 19 October.
Kalaratri, the fierce one who brings good (Saptami, Day 7)
She is dark, rides a donkey and carries a sword and an iron hook. She is also called Shubhankari, the auspicious one. In 2026 her tithi covers two mornings, so her lines suit 18 October too.
- Family: "Kalaratri is the fiercest form and still called Shubhankari. May whatever frightens this family turn out to be on our side."
- Friend: "Day 7, Kalaratri. Scariest goddess, kindest blessing. Like you before chai."
- Status: "Day 7: Kalaratri. Even the dark has a guardian."
Mahagauri, the one dressed in white (Ashtami)
She wears only white and rides a bull. Ashtami is her tithi, whatever the day count says.
- Family: "On Ashtami, Maa Mahagauri dresses only in white. May she wipe our slate clean, old quarrels included."
- Friend: "Mahagauri's day. Clean slate: last year's garba no-show is forgiven."
- Status: "Ashtami: Mahagauri. Clean slate."
Siddhidatri, giver of fulfilment (Navami)
She sits on a lotus and rides a lion. Drik says even Shiva received his siddhis through her.
- Family: "On the last day, Maa Siddhidatri grants what eight days prepared us for. May everything we prayed for find its way home."
- Friend: "Day 9, Siddhidatri. Nine days of effort; may she sign off on all of it."
- Status: "Day 9: Siddhidatri. Prayers, received."
On 19 October 2026 both tithis meet on one Monday. One line covers both goddesses:
- "Two goddesses, one Monday: may Mahagauri clear the way and Siddhidatri finish the work."
- महागौरी राह साफ़ करें, सिद्धिदात्री काम पूरा करें। (Mahagauri raah saaf karein, Siddhidatri kaam poora karein: "May Mahagauri clear the path and Siddhidatri complete the work.")
Which day-wise wish to send to whom
The three lines per form suit different readers. The table adds the SubhSandesh measurement behind each.
| Wish type | Length here | Best moment | SubhSandesh measure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Family | 20–25 words | Morning, before puja | 49.4% of Raksha Bandhan 2026 pages built on the day (n=89) |
| Friend | 12–18 words | Any time that day | Median Raksha Bandhan lead time: 0 days |
| Status | 4–7 words | First thing; lasts 24 hours | 48.3% of shared pages opened on a phone |
| One-person page | Nine lines, one per night | Before Day 1 | 38.5% of creators password-protect their page |
Day-wise wishes are a same-day habit. Keep all nine ready on Day 1.
One person, nine nights: the Dandiya Partner page
If a line is really meant for the one person you want beside you at garba, the Be My Dandiya Partner invitation is built around nine short lines, one for each night of Navratri. They light nine diyas round a garbo to read them, then see up to six of your photos.
It suits a love, a crush or a best friend as garba buddy, and the No button becomes a second Yes after five tries. The UI is English and it is one-to-one, so it is the wrong tool for a family group or society.
When a day-wise wish is the wrong choice
A family WhatsApp group of 40 needs one plain line, not nine; for anything that is not a garba invite, browse all SubhSandesh templates instead. An elder without a smartphone is better served by a phone call on Ashtami.
In Bengal, Durga Puja centres on Shashthi to Dashami, so a nine-form sequence reads oddly. A friend who does not observe Navratri needs one warm line on Day 1, not nine.
