Navratri Invitation Message in Hindi for Jagran, Kanjak and Puja

A Navratri invitation message in Hindi has to name five things a greeting skips: the event (चौकी, जागरण, कन्या पूजन), the day and date, a clock time, the address, and a request to reply. We counted the most visible Hindi invitation list in our search on 12 October 2026: 63 messages, and not one carries a time, a date, a place or a named event.

48.3% of pages shared through SubhSandesh are opened on a phone, so each WhatsApp version fits one screen. In Raksha Bandhan 2026, the nearest festival we have measured (n = 89, not Navratri data), 49.4% of pages were built on the festival day itself, so expect late replies. Below are original messages for seven events in Devanagari, romanised Hindi and English, each with a WhatsApp and a card version.

आप or तुम, सादर or सप्रेम: which Hindi register fits?

Use आप (aap) for elders, neighbours and any family group, and तुम (tum) only for friends, siblings and cousins your own age. McGregor's Oxford Hindi-English Dictionary glosses तुम as the "reduced hon. grade" of you and आप as the honorific.

The opening phrase follows suit. McGregor defines सादर as "paying respect, respectful", so सादर आमंत्रण suits a printed card for elders. सप्रेम निमंत्रण ("an invitation, with love") suits close family; सप्रेम is a headword in none of the four DSAL dictionaries we checked, so read it as स + प्रेम ("love").

आमंत्रण and निमंत्रण are near-synonyms: Bahri's learners' dictionary glosses आमंत्रण as "invitation, call" and points to निमंत्रण. We leave तू out; it is too intimate for an invitation.

What should a Hindi Navratri invitation include?

It should state the event and host, day plus date, start time, address with a landmark, and a reply line. On a card, sign off with विनीत (vineet, "humbly") and the family name.

Per Drik Panchang for New Delhi, Sharad Navratri 2026 runs from Sunday 11 October to Monday 19 October, and Durga Ashtami and Maha Navami both fall on Monday 19 October. Dussehra is Tuesday 20 October in Delhi and North India, but Wednesday 21 October in Bengal and Mysuru.

In 2027 it runs from Thursday 30 September, with Dussehra on Saturday 9 October. Messages below use [brackets] for date, time and address, so they work in any year.

7 Hindi Navratri invitation messages, by event

1. घटस्थापना (Ghatasthapana, day one)

• Suits: close family, first morning, at your panchang's muhurat.
• जय माता दी। [दिन, तारीख] को सुबह [मुहूर्त] बजे हमारे घर घटस्थापना है। सपरिवार आइए। पता: [पता]। आ पाएँ तो एक लाइन लिख दीजिए।
• Jai Mata Di. [din, tareekh] ko subah [muhurat] baje hamare ghar ghatasthapana hai. Saparivaar aaiye. Pata: [pata]. Aa paayein to ek line likh dijiye.
• English: Ghatasthapana at our home, [day, date], [muhurat]. Come with family; tell us if you can.

2. माता की चौकी (Mata ki Chowki)

Suits: neighbours and relatives, one evening. Pamela Lothspeich translates चौकी as the Goddess's "platform-altar" and quotes a Bareilly priest saying chowkis and jagrans have become especially popular at Navratri.

• English: Mata ki Chowki at our home, [day, date], from [time]: bhajans, aarti, bhandara. Tell us your headcount for the prasad.

3. माता का जागरण / जगराता (all-night jagran)

Suits: the whole lane or society. Lothspeich glosses jagran as "the Mother's vigil"; McGregor gives जागरण as "wakefulness" and "vigil". Guests stay up all night, so say when it starts and which aarti ends it.

4. कन्या पूजन / कंजक (Ashtami or Navami)

Suits: the girls' parents, never the girls. Families pick Ashtami or Navami by custom; the Uttarakhand Governor's household performed Kanya Pujan on Ashtami on 30 September 2025.

In 2026 the choice disappears in Delhi: both tithis fall on Monday 19 October, Sandhi Puja 10:27–11:15 AM in New Delhi. In 2027 they split (7 and 8 October). A US-timezone panchang shows Ashtami on 18 October 2026, so check locally abroad.

5. कीर्तन / भजन संध्या (kirtan or bhajan evening)

• Suits: a women's satsang group or neighbours, one afternoon.
• जय माता दी बहनों! [दिन] को दोपहर [समय] बजे हमारे घर नवरात्रि कीर्तन है। ढोलक हमारे पास है, आप अपना पसंदीदा एक भजन लेकर आइए। पता: [पता]।
• Jai Mata Di behnon! [din] ko dopahar [samay] baje hamare ghar Navratri kirtan hai. Dholak hamare paas hai, aap apna pasandeeda ek bhajan lekar aaiye. Pata: [pata].
• English: Navratri kirtan at ours, [day], [time]. We have the dholak; bring one bhajan to lead.

6. रामलीला या दशहरा मेला (Ramlila or Dussehra mela outing)

Suits: friends (तुम) or the family group (आप). Lothspeich estimates one Ramlila per 150,000–200,000 people in Uttar Pradesh, run over ten to fifteen evenings, with finales above 100,000 people at many venues. Name a gate.

• इस बार रामलीला साथ देखें? [दिन] शाम [समय] बजे [मैदान] के [गेट नंबर] पर मिलते हैं। दशहरे पर रावण दहन भी साथ चलेंगे। चलोगे?
• Is baar Ramlila saath dekhein? [din] shaam [samay] baje [maidan] ke [gate number] par milte hain. Dussehre par Ravan dahan bhi saath chalenge. Chaloge?
• English: Ramlila together? [Gate], [ground], [time], [day]; Ravan dahan on Dussehra too?
• Card: none needed. For elders, write चलेंगे आप? and add a pick-up time.

7. One garba-night line

Suits: the one person you want at garba. Use तुम.

• [tareekh] ki raat [jagah] par garba hai, nau mein se ek raat to saath naacho. Chaloge? (Garba on [date]: dance one of nine nights with me?)

WhatsApp or card: which format fits each event?

Five events by India date (Drik Panchang, New Delhi), with the format and register that work. Bigger guest list, more card; smaller list, more personal call.

Where the Be My Dandiya Partner page fits, and where it does not

The Be My Dandiya Partner page is the wrong tool for a jagran, chowki or kanya pujan. It is a one-to-one invitation for the single person you want at garba: partner, crush, or best friend as garba buddy.

It holds nine short lines, one per night, and up to six photos; they answer "Will you be my Dandiya partner?" and get a 1080×1920 Dandiya Pass. Its interface is in English, so your Hindi goes into the lines you type.

For a Ramlila or Dussehra mela with one person, a date invitation page fits better: it asks about a plan, not a dance. Otherwise, browse all templates.

When a Hindi WhatsApp invitation is the wrong choice

WhatsApp is wrong for grandparents who do not read messages, and for kanjak, where a mother wants to hear your voice before sending her daughter. Call them.

Do not lock a group invitation. 38.5% of SubhSandesh creators password-protect their page, which suits a private note, but a jagran invite must forward freely. And since 49.4% of Raksha Bandhan 2026 pages were built on the day itself, people plan late: follow any card with a one-line reminder that morning.
