- • Dussehra falls on Tuesday 20 October 2026 in Delhi and North India but Wednesday 21 October in Bengal and Mysuru; in 2027 it is Saturday 9 October in Delhi.
- • Send Shubho Bijoya only after the immersion: in Kalyan Karmakar's Kolkata account it is said after the goddess is immersed on Dashami.
- • Skip Ravan comparisons and ex-effigy jokes: in a 337-couple study, less satisfied partners reported more aggressive humour from the other.
- • Romance is what SubhSandesh users build most: the "I love you" page is 22.7% of all pages created and 29.7% of all page views.
- • Garba ends Monday 19 October 2026, so a dandiya invitation fits Sharad Purnima (25 October) or next Navratri better than Dussehra.

Dussehra Wishes for Girlfriend, From Garba's End to Ravan Dahan
The Dussehra wishes for girlfriend that land are about a victory the two of you actually had: a hard year, a long distance, a fight you came back from. Dussehra (Vijayadashami) falls on Tuesday 20 October 2026 in Delhi and most of North India, but on Wednesday 21 October in Bengal and Mysuru, so the right morning depends on where she celebrates. Below: lines for six moments, a boyfriend set, jokes to skip, and where an invitation page fits.
Romance is what people build most on SubhSandesh. The "I love you" page alone accounts for 1,182 pages, 22.7% of everything created, and draws 29.7% of all page views. Our nearest festival measurement is Raksha Bandhan, not Dussehra, and the sample is small (89 pages): 49.4% were built on the festival day itself, so a wish written that morning is normal.
What makes a Dussehra wish romantic without making it trite?
A romantic Dussehra wish borrows the festival's idea of victory and points it at something real between you, instead of casting either of you as good or evil. Vijayadashami marks Rama's victory over Ravana and Durga's over Mahishasura, as Drik Panchang's Vijayadashami 2026 page puts it, and for most families it is a religious day first.
"Our love conquers all evil" is how a template reads; "we got through April" is how a person writes. Every line below names a specific win, evening or ritual.
Dussehra wishes for girlfriend, moment by moment
Each moment gives the 2026 timing, who it suits, and two original lines, the Hindi or Bengali ones transliterated and glossed. Swap in your own detail before you send.
1. The victory line, for a year you got through
When: the morning of Tuesday 20 October 2026 (Saturday 9 October in 2027). Suits: couples who survived something specific: exams, a job change, a family "not yet", months apart.
- "Ten heads, ten problems, and somehow we beat most of them. Happy Dussehra to my favourite teammate."
- इस साल की सबसे बड़ी जीत? हम दोनों अब भी साथ हैं। Happy Dussehra, meri jaan. Is saal ki sabse badi jeet? Hum dono ab bhi saath hain. "The biggest win of the year? The two of us, still together."
2. The morning after the last garba
When: Navratri's ninth night is Monday 19 October 2026, so this goes out on the morning of the 20th. Suits: couples who went to garba together all nine nights, or tried to.
- "Nine nights of garba, two sore pairs of feet, one very happy me. Happy Dussehra. Same circle next Navratri?"
- पैर दुख रहे हैं, दिल नहीं। नौ रातें तुम्हारे साथ, अब दशहरे की सुबह भी। Pair dukh rahe hain, dil nahin. Nau raatein tumhare saath, ab Dussehre ki subah bhi. "My feet hurt, my heart doesn't. Nine nights with you, and now Dussehra morning too."
3. The invitation to Ravan Dahan
When: the evening of 20 October 2026, at your local Ramlila ground. Suits: a couple yet to do a big festival outing together.
In Aron's experiments, couples assigned to a novel, arousing activity reported less boredom and more closeness and satisfaction than couples given a mundane one, as Balzarini, Sharma and Muise summarise in Behavioral Sciences (2025). Their own virtual-reality follow-up with 183 and 141 couples found mixed effects, so treat it as a nudge, not a guarantee.
- "Crowds, crackers, a giant Ravan and your hand in mine. That's my entire Dussehra plan. Coming?"
- रावण दहन देखने चलोगी? भीड़ मैं संभाल लूँगा, जलेबी तुम। Ravan Dahan dekhne chalogi? Bheed main sambhaal loonga, jalebi tum. "Coming to watch Ravan Dahan? I'll handle the crowd, you handle the jalebis."
4. Shubho Bijoya, for a Bengali girlfriend
When: after the immersion. Drik Panchang lists Bengal Vijayadashami on Wednesday 21 October 2026, a day after Delhi. Suits: a girlfriend whose family keeps Durga Puja.
In food writer Kalyan Karmakar's 2021 account of Bijoya in Kolkata, "Shubho Bijoya" is wished only after the goddess is immersed on Dashami. Peers embrace three times and then fold their palms (kolakuli), and the visits that follow come with tea, snacks and sweets.
- শুভ বিজয়া! দেখা হলে কোলাকুলি, আর মিষ্টি আমার তরফ থেকে। Shubho Bijoya! Dekha hole kolakuli, ar mishti amar torof theke. "Shubho Bijoya! A kolakuli when we meet, and the sweets are on me."
- "Ma has gone home, and I'm still wishing I'd stood at the ghat with you. Shubho Bijoya."
Not Bengali yourself? A plain "Shubho Bijoya" sent after the visarjan beats a long line in shaky Bengali sent before it.
5. Your first Dussehra as a couple
When: any time on 20 October 2026; for a first, slightly early beats slightly late. Suits: relationships under a year old.
- "Our first Dussehra. No grand speech, just a small fact: I'm glad it's you."
- पहला दशहरा, पहली बार किसी के साथ मेले की प्लानिंग। अच्छा लग रहा है। Pehla Dussehra, pehli baar kisi ke saath mele ki planning. Achha lag raha hai. "First Dussehra, first time planning a mela with someone. It feels good."
6. When you are in different cities
When: 20 October 2026, or the 21st if one of you is in Kolkata or Mysuru. Suits: long-distance couples.
- "You're watching your city's Ravan burn, I'm watching mine. Two fires, one sky, one us. Happy Dussehra."
- दूरी भी एक रावण है, और ये भी हारेगी। जल्दी मिलते हैं। Doori bhi ek Ravan hai, aur ye bhi haaregi. Jaldi milte hain. "Distance is a Ravan too, and it will lose. See you soon."
Dussehra wishes for boyfriend
Same rule for him: name the win, skip "good over evil". Send it on Tuesday 20 October 2026 (Saturday 9 October in 2027), or Bijoya on the 21st if he is Bengali.
- "Happy Dussehra to the man who carried my dandiya sticks for nine nights without being asked."
- "You were the steady one in a hard year. Half of today's victory is yours."
- तुम्हारे साथ इस साल कई लड़ाइयाँ जीतीं, और हमारी आपस वाली भी मिलकर सुलझाईं। Tumhare saath is saal kai ladaaiyan jeetin, aur hamari aapas wali bhi milkar suljhaain. "With you I won a lot of battles this year, and we settled the ones between us together."
What not to joke about on Dussehra
Do not compare your partner, or her mother, to Ravan, even as a "ten moods" joke, and skip lines about burning an ex's effigy. The first punches at the person you are wishing; the second says the ex is still on your mind.
A May 2023 PsyPost report on a study of 337 couples points the same way. According to PsyPost, less satisfied partners said the other used more aggressive humour, and people slightly overestimated how much aggressive humour their partner used. A tease can read harsher than you meant.
Skip fasting jokes if she kept the Navratri fast. The playful version that stays kind: "Ravan had ten heads and still couldn't come up with a better plan than me taking you to the mela."
Which Dussehra wish fits which moment?
The table gives each moment's 2026 date, best format and closest SubhSandesh number. None is Dussehra-specific; we have no Dussehra segment yet.
| Moment | 2026 date | Best format | SubhSandesh data point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Victory line | Tue 20 Oct, morning | Text, or an "I love you" page | /love-gf: 1,182 pages, 22.7% of all created |
| Morning after the last garba | Tue 20 Oct (garba ended Mon 19 Oct) | Text or voice note | 48.3% of shared pages are opened on a phone |
| Ravan Dahan outing | Tue 20 Oct, evening | An invitation she answers | 90.9% of started pages are published and shared |
| Shubho Bijoya | Wed 21 Oct, after the immersion | Call, or a text in Bengali | Raksha Bandhan analogue: 49.4% built on the day |
| Sharad Purnima garba | Sun 25 Oct | Dandiya invitation | /dandiya-partner is new: no usage data yet |
The takeaway: most of these are texts. A page earns its place for the outing and the next garba night.
Where a dandiya invitation fits, and where it doesn't
Garba ends with Navratri's ninth night, Monday 19 October 2026, so on Dussehra itself a garba invitation is a day late for most couples. It fits two other nights: Sharad Purnima, when Gujarat plays garba again on Sunday 25 October 2026, and next Navratri, 30 September to 8 October 2027.
For those nights, the Be My Dandiya Partner invitation takes nine short lines, one per night, up to six photos, and the date, time, venue and dress code. She clashes a pair of dandiya sticks to open it, picks the colour she will twirl in, and downloads a 1080×1920 Dandiya Pass; the No button gives up after five tries and becomes a second Yes. It is one-to-one, the page itself is in English, and it does not sell passes or find anyone a partner.
For Dussehra itself there are two better fits. If the wish is really "I love you", the "I love you" page is the most-viewed template on the site, with 17,093 views. If the wish is "come to the mela with me", The Invitation asks a question she has to answer, and a yes turns into a countdown to the evening.
When a Dussehra wish for your girlfriend is the wrong move
If her family is in a mourning year, ask before sending anything festive. If she does not celebrate Dussehra, "thinking of you today" beats a victory line.
If her family does not know about you, a photo page is a risk: 38.5% of SubhSandesh creators password-protect their page before sharing, and you should too. For an elder in her family, Bijoya is a pranam in Karmakar's telling, so call rather than forward. And if you are standing next to her at the Ramlila on 20 October, say it out loud; no link beats that.
