- • The FDA bars colour additives from the eye area, brow to under-eye ridge, unless the additive's own regulation permits it, and lists only seven approved fluorescent colours.

Easy Halloween Makeup: 20 Looks Sorted by 5, 15 and 30 Minutes
Easy Halloween makeup is any look you can finish in 30 minutes or less with a white base, black liner, powder and an oil cleanser. Below are 20 looks in 5-, 15- and 30-minute bands, each with steps, products, a skill rating from 1 to 3 and notes for glasses, beards and sensitive skin.
SubhSandesh has no Halloween data, but at Raksha Bandhan, the nearest festival we have measured (89 pages, a small sample), 49.4% of greeting pages were built on the day itself, hence the time bands. And 48.3% of views of shared SubhSandesh pages happen on a phone, so a look must read in a small photo: bold contrast beats detail.
What do you need for easy Halloween makeup, and how do you take it off?
Easy Halloween makeup is face makeup built from three or four cosmetic products applied with fingers and a brush, with no latex, prosthetics or adhesive. Every look below uses these 5 basics.
- Barrier: a thin layer of moisturiser, left 2 minutes to sink in, so pigment sits evenly.
- White base: water-activated face paint for large areas, cream white for small ones. Water-activated dries matte; cream blends easily but smudges under glasses.
- Black and colour: liquid liner for lines, black cream for fills, eyeshadows as face colour.
- Setting: translucent powder pressed on with a puff, then setting spray.
- Removal: massage an oil or balm cleanser over dry skin first, then a gentle wash, then moisturiser. Oil loosens waterproof pigment; scrubbing with soap leaves skin red.

Is Halloween makeup safe? 4 checks before you paint
A 2025 review of cosmetic contact allergy by Lund University dermatologists reports that about 30% of patients with facial dermatitis have cosmetic-induced dermatitis. It also lists more than 150 fragrance materials as known allergens.
- Eye-area colours: the FDA's colour additives fact sheet treats Halloween makeup as a cosmetic, bars colours from the eye area (brow to under-eye ridge) unless specifically permitted, and approves only seven fluorescent colours. Keep neon outside the eye socket.
- Patch test: the same review describes the repeated open application test dermatologists use: a coin-sized dab on the forearm or inner elbow for 3–4 weeks. At home, start a week ahead; any rash means not on your face.
- No craft paint or markers: they are not sold as cosmetics, so nothing says their colours are approved for skin.
- Glitter near eyes: use cosmetic glitter only and keep it off the lids. In a three-person pilot described by a 2018 review of eye cosmetics and the tear film, glitter eyeliner reached the tear film less when drawn outside the lashes than on the inner lash line. Remove it eyes closed, wiping outwards on a cotton pad.
When a painted face is the wrong way to say Happy Halloween
Makeup lasts one evening, in one room. For someone far away, send something that keeps.
Our interactive Halloween card with photos holds up to six photos, tonight's look included. They carve a jack-o'-lantern and end with a Boo License showing one of eight costumes you picked for them. It is a one-person page, not a party invite; 38.5% of SubhSandesh creators password-protect their page, wise when photos show your face.
The Halloween website with a voice note adds up to 60 seconds of your voice and up to 12 photos. At a party, a painted face beats any link, and both pages are English-only.
