- • 30 girl group costume sets in 8 vibes, each tagged with group size, an estimated US$ cost per person and a 1–5 photo-ready score.
- • Scalable sets such as birthstones, the zodiac and the decade timeline flex from 3 to 12 friends; the March sisters and the Golden Girls need exactly 4.
- • The lowest-spend sets reuse owned clothes: undead bridesmaids and haunted spa night come in at an estimated US$5–15 per person.
- • Becker and colleagues (2013) found occasional fat talk among 82–85% of women in every age group, so theme by colour, prop or role, never by cut or size.
- • 48.3% of SubhSandesh pages are opened on a phone (platform-wide, not Halloween data), which is why each idea carries a photo-ready score.

Girl Group Halloween Costumes: 30 Ideas Sorted by Group Vibe
The best girl group Halloween costumes give each friend her own part in one readable theme, so 3 or 10 women can join without matching outfits. Here are 30 sets in 8 vibes, tagged with group size, estimated spend per person and a photo-ready score. The score matters because group shots travel by phone: SubhSandesh pages are opened on a phone 48.3% of the time, and the average page draws 11.1 views, platform-wide rather than Halloween figures.
Halloween is fixed on 31 October, which is a Saturday in 2026 and a Sunday in 2027. Plan the set about three weeks out.
What makes a girl group costume work?
A girl group costume is a family of related looks worn by women friends, with each person playing one distinct piece of a shared idea. It succeeds when a stranger can name the theme from a single photo while every friend still picks her own silhouette, spend and coverage. Girls group costumes for teens follow the same logic.
Brackets give group size, est. per-person US$ for a wardrobe and charity-shop build plus one bought piece, and a 1–5 photo-ready score. That score is our call on how legible the theme is in one phone-sized group shot.

Vibes run from black tie to sofa. Mixed-budget groups should read section 8 first.
1. Glam and fashion groups (4 ideas)
These suit a dress code or club night. Most reuse something already hanging up.
- Velvet vampire ball: one jewel-tone velvet each, ruby through amethyst, with fangs. (3–6 · est. US$15–35 · 4/5)
- Red-carpet nominees: evening wear and a satin sash for an invented prize, "Best Haunting in a Supporting Role". (3 to 10+ · est. US$10–25 · 4/5)
- Undead bridesmaids: dresses from an old wedding party, grey face paint and wilted bouquets. (3–6 · est. US$5–15 · 5/5)
- Widows' club: black cocktail dresses, veiled fascinators, pearls and a scroll labelled "The Will". (3–4 · est. US$15–30 · 3/5)
2. Pop-culture squads (6 ideas)
Fictional girl gangs read instantly. Skip logos; colour, hair and one prop carry it.
- The Pink Ladies: pink satin bombers with first names ironed on, cigarette trousers, neck scarves. (3–6 · est. US$25–45 · 5/5)
- The Plastics: head-to-toe pink, one friend clutching a fake gossip notebook. (3–4 · est. US$10–25 · 4/5)
- Charlie's Angels, 1970s TV: feathered hair, flares, turtlenecks, posed back to back. (3, or 4 with a "Bosley" · est. US$15–30 · 4/5)
- The March sisters: Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy from Little Women, in shawls, with a fan, inkpot, sheet music and sketchbook. (exactly 4 · est. US$15–35 · 3/5)

- A cappella rivals, Bellas-style: identical blazers and neck scarves plus a pitch pipe. (7+ · est. US$15–30 · 4/5)
3. Nature and elements sets (4 ideas)
These scale with the guest list. Seasons and planets are everywhere already, so these go further.
- Birthstones: each friend wears her birth month's stone colour under a paper gem-cut crown. (up to 12 · est. US$10–20 · 3/5)
- Phases of the moon: eight phases in a row, new moon in black to full moon in silver. (8 ideal · est. US$10–25 · 4/5)
- Zodiac line-up: everyone plays her own star sign, say a crab-claw headband for Cancer. (up to 12 · est. US$10–20 · 3/5)
- Weather forecast: sun, rain cloud, thunderstorm, fog, snow, rainbow, plus a presenter with a pointer. (5–10 · est. US$10–25 · 4/5)
4. Food and dessert sets (4 ideas)
Colour does the work here. Choose pastel or rich, never both.
- Box of macarons: one pastel each, felt "shell" headbands, a cardboard lid as the sign. (5–6 · est. US$10–20 · 4/5)
- Afternoon tea stand: teapot, jam scone, cucumber sandwich, fruit tart, sugar bowl. (5–6 · est. US$15–30 · 3/5)
- Box of chocolates: brown, gold-foil and pink as truffle, praline and strawberry cream. (3–10 · est. US$10–25 · 3/5)
- Pick 'n' mix: cola bottle, jelly ring, foam banana and friends, with a paper scoop. (7+ · est. US$10–20 · 4/5)
5. "Everyone picks a decade" sets (3 ideas)
Each friend claims her own era, ending the fight over roles. Line up in date order.
- Timeline line-up: one decade apiece from the 1920s to the 2010s, each with a year card. (5–10 · est. US$10–30 · 4/5)
- The little black dress, a century on: all black, each cut from a different decade. (3–10 · est. US$10–30 · 3/5)
- Dance crazes by decade: Charleston, jitterbug, twist, hustle and voguing, each danced on cue. (5–6 · est. US$10–25 · 5/5)
6. Historical women sets (3 ideas)
These women worked in teams. Play the job and era, never a caricature, and never change anyone's skin tone.
- Bletchley Park codebreakers: 1940s skirt suits or navy uniforms and a "Top Secret" folder. By 1945, 75% of Bletchley Park's staff were women, six in ten in uniform. (3–10 · est. US$15–35 · 3/5)
- NASA's West Area Computers: 1950s blouses, slacks and a slide rule. Dorothy Vaughan ran NACA's segregated West Area Computing unit from 1949 to 1958; Mary Jackson and Katherine Johnson were among its alumni. (3–4 · est. US$15–30 · 3/5)
- Suffragettes: white blouses, long skirts and purple, white and green sashes, colours that The National Archives says stood for freedom, purity and hope. (any · est. US$10–25 · 4/5)
7. Cosy and comfort groups (3 ideas)
Built for cold nights and floor-sitting house parties. Everything is wearable for six hours.
- Haunted spa night: bathrobes, hair towels and sheet face masks that turn into mummies when the lights dim. (any · est. US$5–15 · 4/5)
- Book club of the dead: long cardigans, pale make-up and a Gothic classic each, Dracula or Carmilla. (3–6 · est. US$5–20 · 3/5)
- Hibernation den: fleece hoodies with felt ears as hedgehog, dormouse, brown bear and bat, under one shared blanket. (3–6 · est. US$10–25 · 4/5)
8. Mixed sizes and budgets in one group (3 ideas)
These frameworks sit on top of any set above. They give the friend on a tight budget, or the costume sceptic, a real part.
- Three-tier roles: full, half and accessory-only parts; in the weather set, the rainbow is a US$40 build while fog is a grey jumper. (any · est. US$5–40 by tier · 4/5)
- Shared palette, own silhouette: fix two colours, emerald and black, and let each friend pick a dress, jumpsuit, abaya or jeans. (any · est. under US$15 · 3/5)
- The off-camera role: one friend comes as the paparazzo with a camera and shoots the group. (any · est. under US$10 · 3/5)
Girl group costume vibes compared: size and est. cost per person
The eight vibes fold into five rows, one example each. Costs are per-person US$ estimates, not quotes.
| Group vibe | Example set | Group size | Est. cost per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glam and fashion | Undead bridesmaids | 3–6 | US$5–15 |
| Pop-culture squad | The Pink Ladies | 3–6 | US$25–45 |
| Nature, food and dessert | Phases of the moon | 7–8 | US$10–25 |
| Decade and history | Timeline line-up | 5–10 | US$10–30 |
| Cosy and mixed-budget | Haunted spa night | Any size | US$5–15 |
Owned-clothes sets come cheapest and bought matching jackets dearest. A friend on a smaller budget fits the first or last row best.
How to theme a body-, budget- and modesty-diverse group
Body talk is a bigger risk than any costume. Surveying 914 women aged 18 to 87, Becker and colleagues (Journal of Eating Disorders, 2013) found occasional "fat talk", the self-critical body chat friends trade, holding steady at 82–85% in all four age groups. They also cite earlier work where 3–5 minutes of it raised undergraduate women's body dissatisfaction.
So agree the rule before the fitting. The shared element should be a colour, prop or role, never a cut, hem or size.
Photos are the second pressure point. A 2016 First Monday study of 130 female college students linked higher body dissatisfaction with taking more selfies, though not with posting more. It is correlation, not cause, but supports a three-take limit and one veto per friend.
- Body-diverse: hand out parts by role, not fit; capes, robes, sashes and headpieces suit most sizes.
- Budget-diverse: name a per-person cap, say US$20, before anyone shops, and let tiered roles absorb gaps.
- Modesty-diverse: every set works with long sleeves, full hems and a headscarf; the suffragettes, Golden Girls and March sisters need no changes.
- Teen groups: pick sets a parent would approve, such as cosy or decade ones.
One friend from the squad: a bestie-mode Halloween card
The costume belongs to the group, but one friend may deserve something of her own. Our interactive Halloween card is built for a single recipient, not a crowd, and its best-friend mode ends on "Will you be my boo-st friend forever?".
Add both names, a letter and up to six costume photos. She knocks three times, carves a pumpkin, wipes fogged portraits to find your pictures and earns a Boo License sized for Instagram Stories, showing her photo and the costume you chose for her; you are emailed when she first answers.
For a voice message, the premium Halloween page adds up to 60 seconds of audio, 12 photos and a reply box. With 38.5% of SubhSandesh creators setting a password, lock yours too if other friends are in the photos.
When a girl group costume, or the card, falls short
Fixed casts collapse when someone drops out: the March sisters and Golden Girls need exactly 4. Without a confirmed headcount by about 24 October, switch to birthstones or the timeline.
The card suits one recipient only, with an English-only interface and no group invitations, so a shared album serves ten friends better. If she is standing next to you on the night, hand her a printed group photo instead.
