- • Hand out shop-sealed treats at the door: the FDA tells children not to accept or eat anything that isn't commercially wrapped.
- • US labels flag 9 major allergens and UK law regulates 14, so a treat that is top-9 free can still carry sulphites, celery or mustard.
- • Four no-bake treats need just 15 minutes of hands-on work; at Raksha Bandhan 2026, the nearest festival SubhSandesh has measured, 49.4% of pages were made on the day itself.
- • The FDA counted 10,448 poison-centre cases involving only THC edibles from January 2021 to May 2022, 77% in patients aged 19 or under.
- • Chocolate and xylitol are both dangerous to dogs, per the ASPCA, so adult treat bags and the candy haul stay above dog height.

Easy Halloween Treats to Hand Out or Gift: 25 Ideas by Occasion
The easiest Halloween treats are sorted by where they are going: shop-sealed sweets for the door, nut-free labelled packs for a class party, and home-made no-bake treats only for people who know your kitchen. Below are 25, each with make time, allergens, shelf life and an estimated cost per 20, for Saturday 31 October 2026 and Sunday 31 October 2027.
Two SubhSandesh numbers shape the timing advice, though neither is Halloween data. At Raksha Bandhan 2026, our closest measured festival, 49.4% of pages were made on the day itself, so the 15-minute group serves the same-day crowd. And 48.3% of shared pages open on a phone, so the one-person idea at the end is a link, not a parcel.
What counts as a Halloween treat, and is home-made accepted?
A Halloween treat is a small, single-serve food or token handed to trick-or-treaters, a class or a friend around 31 October. It is held in one hand and eaten later, never served on a plate.
On home-made, the caution is official. The FDA's Halloween food safety tips for parents (updated 5 March 2024) tell children not to accept, and especially not to eat, anything that isn't commercially wrapped, and say an allergic child should not eat home-baked gifts.
Many parents bin home-made treats from unfamiliar doors; we found no police guidance behind it, so read it as FDA advice plus common practice. Cookies need a baking guide of their own, and anything eaten with a spoon is a dessert, not a hand-out.
25 easy Halloween treats in 6 groups by occasion
Every entry lists make time · allergens · how long it keeps · estimated cost per 20 at US supermarket prices. "Top-9 free" means no major US allergen is listed; recipes change, so read each label.
1. Trick-or-treat hand-outs: 5 shop-sealed picks

- Unsulphured dried mango "tongues": 5 min · top-14 free only if unsulphured · 6 months · $12–15

4. Low-sugar treats: 4 at about 5 grams of sugar or less
The WHO sugars guideline of 4 March 2015 sets free sugars below 10% of daily energy for adults and children, and says under 5%, roughly 25 grams or 6 teaspoons a day, brings extra benefit. Sugar figures here are our per-piece estimates.
- Wax-coated mini cheeses with faces drawn on the wax: 5 min · milk · about 0 g sugar · days chilled · $12–15
- Grape-and-cheese wands on blunt skewers: 15 min · milk · about 4 g · 2 hours unchilled, the FDA's limit for perishable party food · $8–10 · halve grapes for under-5s

- Sugar-free jelly cups with a ghost on each lid: 5 min · usually top-9 free; gelatine, sweeteners · about 6 months · $10–12
5. No-bake 15-minute treats: 4 for the same day
Each needs 15 minutes of work. They go to people who know you, not to the door.
- Fruit-juice gummy pumpkins, 250 ml orange juice and 3 tablespoons of gelatine in a pumpkin mould: 15 min plus 2 hours setting · top-14 free · 1 week chilled · $4–5
- Chocolate-dipped pretzel-rod wands rolled in orange sprinkles: 15 min plus 20 setting · wheat, milk, soy · 1 week airtight · $8–10

- Candy-melt ghost lollipops from a silicone mould, chilled 10 minutes: 15 min · usually milk, soy · 2 weeks wrapped · $9–11
6. Treat bags for adults: 4 grown-up picks
Nuts, caffeine and dark chocolate belong here. Label each bag and keep it from children.
- Smoked-paprika nut mix as "graveyard gravel": 15 min · tree nuts, often peanuts; mark "contains nuts" · 2 weeks airtight · $15–20
- Chocolate-covered espresso beans as "beetles": 0 min · milk, soy; caffeine · about 6 months · $10–12
- Sea-salt dark chocolate squares with a one-line fortune card: 10 min · may contain milk · about 6 months · $12–15

The less you made it yourself, the longer it keeps and the more welcome it is at a stranger's door. Home-made wins only where the recipient knows the cook.
Allergy-friendly Halloween treats: 9 US allergens and 14 UK allergens
US labels flag nine: sesame, soy, wheat, egg, milk, peanuts, tree nuts, fish and crustacean shellfish. Allergy UK's list of 14 regulated food allergens adds celery, lupin, mustard, molluscs and sulphites above ten parts per million, counts gluten cereals such as barley and oats, and flags legumes like chickpeas and lentils.
Halloween raises the stakes because sweets come from strangers. A 2024 review by Ridolo, Barone, Ottoni and Nicoletta in Current Opinion in Allergy and Clinical Immunology cites Canadian data tying Halloween and Easter to higher anaphylaxis risk from unknown peanuts and tree nuts in children over 6. It suggests Christmas, being more familiar, brings more vigilance; the review summarises another team's study rather than adding new data.
So keep every wrapper until a parent has checked it, and set non-food treats apart beside a teal pumpkin. An unlabelled treat is useless to an allergic child.
Halloween treat safety: tampering, THC edibles and chocolate for dogs
Random candy poisoning by strangers is mostly myth: a sociologist tracking the claims since the 1980s found no confirmed child death from it. Checking wrappers for pinholes and tears, as the FDA advises, still takes only a minute.
The documented risk is THC edibles dressed as candy. An FDA warning from 16 June 2022 names copycat THC packs styled like Nerds Rope, Starburst and Sour Patch Kids, and counts 10,448 poison-centre cases involving only THC edibles from 1 January 2021 to 31 May 2022. Of those, 77% involved patients aged 19 or under, and 79% needed evaluation at a health care facility.
Lock household edibles away from the bowl and the haul. If a child eats one, call poison control (1-800-222-1222 in the US) or emergency services.
Dogs are the third risk. The ASPCA's list of people foods to avoid feeding pets says chocolate's methylxanthines can cause vomiting, abnormal heart rhythm, seizures and death, with darker chocolate, baking chocolate and cocoa powder the worst. It adds that xylitol in candy and gum can cause low blood sugar and liver damage, so mints and espresso beans stay above dog height.
Treats for someone far away: one Halloween page, 6 photos
A treat needs a hand to land in, so it fails for a niece in another country. Our Happy Halloween card page makes the treat a game for one person: they pick trick or treat, catch sweets as they fall, light a carved pumpkin to reveal your word, and clear misty frames to uncover six photos at most. Kids mode keeps it spooky-cute, with rosy ghosts and no gore.
For a recorded message, the premium Halloween page holds a voice note as long as 60 seconds and as many as 12 photos. Neither is a party tool: each greets one person, in English, and cannot be eaten. Platform-wide, a page draws 11.1 views on average (not a Halloween figure); for anyone in the room, a real treat wins.
