- • Diwali 2027 runs Wednesday 27 to Sunday 31 October, with Lakshmi Puja on Friday 29 October, so each day can carry its own wish.
- • In SubhSandesh's Raksha Bandhan 2026 data (n = 89), 49.4% of greeting pages were built on the festival day and 27.0% the day before; none more than 7 days ahead.
- • A 2025 PNAS Nexus study found 63% of people texted a friend after a short gap but only 46% after a long one, so a plain Dhanteras line beats waiting for a perfect Friday wish.
- • Drik Panchang puts Tamil Deepavali on Thursday 28 October 2027 while some holiday lists say 29 October; wish Tamil friends on both mornings.
- • Shared SubhSandesh pages average 11.1 views, so a Diwali page sent on Friday evening tends to be reopened over the weekend.

Happy Diwali 2027 Wishes for Every Day, 27 to 31 October
Happy Diwali 2027 wishes land best when they follow the calendar: Dhanteras on Wednesday 27 October, Choti Diwali on Thursday 28, Lakshmi Puja on Friday 29, Govardhan Puja on Saturday 30 and Bhai Dooj on Sunday 31 October 2027. SubhSandesh has no Diwali data yet, so the nearest evidence is Raksha Bandhan 2026 (n = 89 pages, a small sample): 49.4% of those greeting pages were built on the festival day itself and 27.0% the day before. Across the platform, 48.3% of shared pages are opened on a phone, so every line below fits on one screen.
Below are 16 original wishes with the hour that suits each. Then come the research on why the first one should not wait for Friday, five send plans compared, and when one message beats five.
What makes a wish a Diwali 2027 wish?
A Diwali 2027 wish is a greeting written for this year's shape of the festival: five days that start on a Wednesday and finish on a Sunday. Lakshmi Puja falls on Friday 29 October, so the main night opens a weekend instead of splitting a working week, per Drik Panchang's 2027 Diwali calendar for New Delhi.
That shape decides the tone. A Wednesday wish reaches people at their desks, a Friday wish as they leave for the puja, and weekend wishes at home among relatives.
There is one regional catch. Drik Panchang lists Tamil Deepavali on Thursday 28 October 2027, while some public-holiday lists print 29 October for Tamil Nadu. For a Tamil friend, send the Deepavali line on Thursday morning and a short follow-up on Friday rather than guessing.
Happy Diwali 2027 wishes, day by day
Each day follows one order: what the day is, who it suits, when to send, then the lines. Copy one and add a sentence only you could write.
1. Dhanteras, Wednesday 27 October 2027
Dhanteras opens the five days with Lakshmi and Kubera puja and the custom of bringing something new into the house. It suits colleagues, neighbours and the cousins you only message at festivals. Send it before 10 AM, because a Wednesday wish competes with office chats for the rest of the day.
- "Happy Dhanteras! Whatever you carry home today, even one steel katori, may it stay lucky till next Diwali."
- "Day one of five. Consider this the first diya; four more wishes are on their way."
- "May the new utensil shine, the old one get a rest, and the house feel lighter by Friday."
2. Choti Diwali and Tamil Deepavali, Thursday 28 October 2027
Narak Chaturdashi, Kali Puja in Bengal and Tamil Deepavali all fall on Thursday, per Drik Panchang. It suits friends in Tamil Nadu and Bengal, and anyone cleaning the house tonight for tomorrow. Send the Deepavali line before 7 AM, when the house is already awake, and the Choti Diwali line after dinner.
- "இனிய தீபாவளி நல்வாழ்த்துகள் (Iniya Deepavali nalvazhthukal), happy Deepavali! May the murukku stay crisp and the relatives stay till the last plate."
- "শুভ কালী পূজা (Shubho Kali Pujo), a blessed Kali Puja. May the Mother keep the dark outside and the lamps within."
- "One day early, so you hear it from me before the whole country says it tomorrow."
3. Lakshmi Puja, Friday 29 October 2027
Friday is the main night, with Lakshmi Puja done after sunset during pradosh, the window Drik Panchang treats as the most auspicious. It suits parents, a partner and your three or four closest friends. Send the long wish the moment your own first diya is lit, and photograph that diya to go with it.
- "Shubh Deepavali. Tonight Lakshmi visits every house on the street; I hope she stays longest at yours."
- "शुभ दीपावली। आज की रात दिये गिनने की नहीं, अपनों को गिनने की है। (Shubh Deepavali. Aaj ki raat diye ginne ki nahin, apnon ko ginne ki hai.) Happy Diwali. Tonight is not for counting lamps but for counting your people."
- "A Friday Diwali means nobody rushes to work tomorrow. Have the second kaju katli."
- "Happy Diwali 2027. Years from now, I want to remember this as the Friday we stayed up past the last phuljhadi."
4. Govardhan Puja and Gujarati New Year, Saturday 30 October 2027
Saturday carries Govardhan Puja with Annakut, Bali Pratipada and the Gujarati New Year, per Drik Panchang. It suits Gujarati friends, Krishna devotees and anyone who treats this as a fresh year. Send by 9 AM, before the Annakut offering and the round of visits begin.
A new-year greeting is a "fresh start" message. In a 2024 randomised trial of 9,143 people in South Africa, texts sent around a public holiday were followed by a clinic visit for 13.4% of recipients against 11.9% with no message, a small effect. Expect warmth from a new-year line, not transformation.
- "નૂતન વર્ષાભિનંદન (Nutan varshabhinandan), happy new year! May the first page of the new chopda be the easiest one you fill all year."
- "Happy Govardhan Puja. May the Annakut table have room for every guest who forgot to tell you they were coming."
- "A new year that begins on a Saturday morning: sleep in first, then start."
5. Bhai Dooj, Sunday 31 October 2027
Bhaiya Dooj, also called Bhau Beej and Yama Dwitiya, closes the five days on Sunday 31 October. It suits brothers, sisters and the cousins who were raised like siblings. Send to a sibling in another city by 11 AM, so the video call happens before lunch rather than after it.
- "Happy Bhai Dooj. The tilak is from me, the extra sweets are from Maa, and the gift you owe me has been noted."
- "Happy Bhai Dooj, didi. You lit the first diya of every Diwali I can remember."
- "भाई दूज मुबारक। दूरी शहरों की है, टीके की नहीं। (Bhai Dooj mubarak. Doori shehron ki hai, teeke ki nahin.) Happy Bhai Dooj. The distance is between our cities, not between us and the tilak."
Should you wait for Friday, or wish on Wednesday?
Wish on Wednesday if the person matters and the last message between you is old. Across five experiments published in PNAS Nexus in June 2025, the longer people had gone without contacting a friend, the more they postponed it: 63% of participants with a short gap chose to text the friend, against 46% with a long gap (n = 1,000). The researchers trace part of this to wanting the return to feel "extra special".
Diwali week sets that trap, because Friday looks like the occasion worth saving the message for. A plain Dhanteras line removes the pressure, so Friday's wish continues a conversation instead of opening one.
Looking forward is worth something as well. In a Dutch study of 1,530 adults published in 2010, the 974 who took a holiday reported higher happiness before the trip than people staying home, which the authors attribute partly to anticipation. A Wednesday wish that promises "more on Friday" gives the recipient a small run-up of their own.
SubhSandesh's own numbers point the other way on effort. In Raksha Bandhan 2026, not one of the 89 pages was built more than 7 days ahead, so plan only what fits on the day.
Five send plans for Diwali 2027, compared
The table compares five ways to spread wishes across 27 to 31 October 2027. The last column shows how Raksha Bandhan 2026 senders timed their pages (n = 89), the nearest festival data SubhSandesh has.
| Send plan (dates) | Messages | Suits | Raksha Bandhan 2026 senders with that timing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main night only, Fri 29 Oct | 1 | Large lists, office groups | 49.4% built on the day itself |
| Eve and night, Thu 28 + Fri 29 Oct | 2 | Close friends | 27.0% built the day before |
| Countdown, one a day, Wed 27 to Sun 31 Oct | 5 | One partner or parent | 5.6% built two to three days ahead |
| Built the weekend before (23–24 Oct), sent Fri 29 Oct | 1 | A page with photos and a letter | 6.7% built four or more days ahead |
| Late catch-up, Sun 31 Oct | 1 | People you missed on Friday | 11.2% built after the day had passed |
Most people send on the night, so a countdown is rare enough to be noticed and a Sunday catch-up common enough to be forgiven. These shares come from a one-day festival, not from Diwali.
Where a SubhSandesh page fits in Diwali week
For the one person who gets the Friday wish, the interactive Happy Diwali page on SubhSandesh turns the lines above into something they open. They light a diya at their door with a tag from you, light a row of wish diyas, colour a rangoli until your initials glow, write with a sparkler and open sky lanterns holding up to six photos, a letter in a shagun liffafa and a mithai box with a Shubh Deepavali card.
It has love, family and friend modes, takes about five minutes, and opens in any browser with no app or account. Build it on Thursday night and send it on Friday evening; a shared page averages 11.1 views, so it can be reopened through the weekend.
For a partner who will see Saturday as a new year, a Capsule page of sealed predictions fits better. You each predict the coming year blind, it seals, and you open it together a year later, close to Diwali 2028. It is a couples' template, not a Diwali one.
When five wishes are worse than one
A five-day plan is wrong for a group. Five messages in five days in a 60-member housing-society chat is noise, so post the single Friday line there and keep the countdown for one person.
It is also wrong for a family in mourning. Some households do not celebrate Diwali in the year after a death, and a cheerful "Happy Diwali 2027" on Friday can jar. Send a quiet Saturday message without the word "happy", or call.
A SubhSandesh page loses too. Some grandparents never open links, and for them a Friday phone call beats any page. For someone in the same room, hand over the mithai instead.
