Miss You Status in Bhojpuri: Lines a Bhojpuri Dictionary Will Back
Miss you status in bhojpuri, checked against Arjun Tiwari's Bhojpuri-Hindi dictionary: рдпрд╛рдж is not a headword in it, and none of the 3 results on this SERP glosses a single line. The verified lines, the three words for "your", and why this is usually a migration query.

- тАв рдпрд╛рдж is not a headword in Arjun Tiwari's рднреЛрдЬрдкреБрд░реА-рд╣рд┐рдВрджреА рд╢рдмреНрджрдХреЛрд╢ (2019) and has no Bhojpuri section on English Wiktionary тАФ so the line every status page prints is the one line this post could not verify.
- тАв Bhojpuri has three words for "your" тАФ рддреЛрд░, рддреЛрд╣рд╛рд░, рд░рд╛рдЙрд░ тАФ and Tatoeba carries the same English sentence in two of them as linked translations (2915420 and 8722021); pick the grade before you pick the words.
- тАв рд╣рдо means "I" in Bhojpuri and "we" in Hindi: Wiktionary's Bhojpuri entry glosses it singular, with genitive рд╣рдорд╛рд░ and oblique рд╣рдорд░рд╛.
- тАв Kaithi is genuinely encoded тАФ Unicode block U+11080тАУU+110CF, version 5.2 тАФ and 141 of Wiktionary's 421 Bhojpuri lemmas use it, but phones lack the font, so Devanagari plus a Roman line is what your reader can open.
- тАв Of 1,588 rural households surveyed across six Bihar districts in 2016, nearly two-thirds had a migrant member and two-thirds of those migrants had been away ten months or more in the preceding year.

Miss You Status in Bhojpuri: Lines a Bhojpuri Dictionary Will Back
The line to paste is рд╣рдо рдкрд░рджреЗрд╕ рдореЗрдВ рдмрд╛рдиреА, рдЬрд┐рдпрд░рд╛ рдШрд░реЗ рдмрд╛ тАФ ham pardes mein baani, jiyara ghare ba, "I am in a foreign land; my heart is at home." Every word in it has an entry in a named Bhojpuri dictionary, which is more than can be said for the line most status pages hand you.
Bhojpuri also makes you answer a question English lets you dodge: who is reading this. There are three words for "your" and they are not interchangeable.
Two numbers from the 214 "I miss you" pages built on SubhSandesh. Median gap between a miss-you page's first save and its last edit: 2.6 hours, n=214 тАФ measured 2026-09-25. And 88.8% of started miss-you pages are published and shared (190 of 214) тАФ measured 2026-09-25. People spend an afternoon on it and then send it тАФ a different act from pasting a status.
The word every status page uses, and the reason this one does not
Almost every "miss you status in Bhojpuri" page is built on рдпрд╛рдж тАФ рддреЛрд╣рд╛рд░ рдпрд╛рдж рдЖрд╡рдд рдмрд╛, "your memory is coming." I cut it.
Arjun Tiwari's рднреЛрдЬрдкреБрд░реА-рд╣рд┐рдВрджреА рд╢рдмреНрджрдХреЛрд╢ (BhojpuriтАУHindi Dictionary, University Publications, Varanasi, 2019), scanned in full on the Internet Archive, has no headword рдпрд╛рдж and no headword рдЗрдпрд╛рдж; рдЗрдпрд╛рдж occurs once in the book, in an appendix list of antonym pairs, never as a glossed entry. English Wiktionary's рдпрд╛рдж page has a Hindi section, an Urdu spelling and no Bhojpuri section at all. The English loan fares no better: рдорд┐рд╕ is not a headword in Tiwari either.
What that dictionary does carry is the vocabulary of being apart: рдмрд┐рдЫреЛрд╣ (рд╡рд┐рдпреЛрдЧ, рдмрд┐рд▓рдЧрд╛рд╡ тАФ separation, parting), рдмрд┐рдЫреБрдбрд╝рд▓ (рдЕрд▓рдЧ рд╣реЛрдирд╛, рд╡рд┐рдпреЛрдЧ рд╣реЛрдирд╛ тАФ to be separated), рдмрд┐рд╕рд░рд▓ (рднреВрд▓рдирд╛, рд╡рд┐рд╕реНрдореГрдд рд╣реЛрдирд╛ тАФ to forget), рдЬрд┐рдпрд░рд╛ (рдорди, рджрд┐рд▓ тАФ heart, mind), рдХрд░реЗрдЬ, рдХрд░реЗрдЬрд╛ (рд╣реГрджрдп, рдХрд▓реЗрдЬрд╛ тАФ heart) and рдкрд░рджреЗрд╕ (рдЕрдиреНрдп рджреЗрд╢, рд╡рд┐рджреЗрд╢ тАФ a land that is not yours).
I am not claiming Bhojpuri speakers never say рдпрд╛рдж тАФ only that after checking two instruments I could not verify it, and that printing unverified lines in somebody else's language is how an Odia entry meaning "copulation" ends up in a greetings listicle.
рддреЛрд░, рддреЛрд╣рд╛рд░, рд░рд╛рдЙрд░: pick the person before you pick the sentence
Tatoeba holds one English sentence, "Where is your friend?", in two Bhojpuri renderings linked to each other as translations:
- рддреЛрд╣рд╛рд░ рдЗрдпрд╛рд░ рдХрд╣рд╡рд╛рдВ рдмрд╛рдбрд╝реЗ? (sentence 2915420)
- рд░рд╛рдЙрд░ рд╕рдВрдШрддрд┐рдпрд╛ рдХрд╣рд╡рд╛рдВ рдмрд╛рдиреА? (sentence 8722021)
Same question, different everything. Tiwari glosses рддреЛрд░ as рддреЗрд░рд╛, рддреЗрд░реА, рддреЛрд╣рд╛рд░ as рддреБрдореНрд╣рд╛рд░рд╛, and рд░рд╛рдЙрд░ as рдЖрдкрдХрд╛. Three grades of "your", and the verb moves with them тАФ рдмрд╛рдбрд╝реЗ against рдмрд╛рдиреА.
So: рд░рд╛рдЙрд░ to parents, in-laws, anyone older. рддреЛрд╣рд╛рд░ to a spouse, sibling or cousin. рддреЛрд░ only to someone you have known since childhood. Sending рддреЛрд░ upward is the one mistake a Bhojpuri reader notices before reading the rest.
Bhojpuri is not Hindi, and рд╣рдо is where you can see it
A reader who searches for Bhojpuri specifically has already rejected the Hindi version. Here is the cleanest proof they are right to.
English Wiktionary's Bhojpuri entry for рд╣рдо glosses it "I" тАФ singular тАФ with genitive рд╣рдорд╛рд░ and oblique рд╣рдорд░рд╛, inherited from Prakrit ЁСАЕЁСАлЁСБЖЁСА│ЁСБВ "we". In Hindi, рд╣рдо means we. The same three letters, one language apart, change how many people are in the sentence. ("We" in Bhojpuri is рд╣рдордиреА.)
The copula splits too. Wiktionary gives Bhojpuri рдмрд╛ as a form of the verb рд╣реЛрдм, "is", where Hindi has рд╣реИ тАФ and Tiwari's preface records that even рдмрд╛ is regional: рднреЛрдЬрдкреБрд░ рдореЗрдВ 'рдмрд╛рдЯреЗ', рдЫрдкрд░рд╛ рдореЗрдВ 'рдмрд╛рдбрд╝реЗ, рдмрд╛рдбрд╝рди', рдмрдирд╛рд░рд╕реА рдХреЗ 'рд╣рдЙрд╡рди, рд╣рдИ, рд╣реМ, рд╣рд╡рди'. Which "is" you type says which district you are from. Wiktionary's Bhojpuri lemma category runs to 421 entries, only 31 of them verbs тАФ thin enough that most of what you want to say is not written down in either instrument yet.
Devanagari, Roman, or Kaithi
Write it in Devanagari, and put a Roman line under it.
Kaithi is Bhojpuri's historic script and it is not folklore: the Unicode Character Database allots U+11080 to U+110CF to Kaithi, with the first 61 characters encoded in version 5.2. Wiktionary's Bhojpuri lemma set is a live demonstration тАФ 141 of its 421 lemmas are written in Kaithi, a third of the vocabulary.
It will still arrive on your reader's phone as a row of empty boxes, because almost no phone ships a Kaithi font. Kaithi is the right answer about Bhojpuri's history and the wrong answer about what to paste.
The Roman line is not a concession either: Bhojpuri (ISO 639-3 bho, an active, living, individual language code) is read by people schooled in Hindi or English who were never taught to read their mother tongue.
Bhojpuri already had a form for this, and it is older than WhatsApp
Bhojpuri has genres for missing someone, and Tiwari's dictionary defines them:
- рдмрд┐рджреЗрд╕рд┐рдЖ тАФ рдПрдХ рд▓реЛрдХрдирд╛рдЯреНрдп, рдЬрд┐рд╕рдХреЗ рдкреНрд░рд╕реНрддреБрддрдХрд░реНрддрд╛ рд╕реНрд╡реж рднрд┐рдЦрд╛рд░реА рдард╛рдХреБрд░ рдереЗ: a folk theatre form staged by Bhikhari Thakur, about the man who has gone away.
- рдмрд╛рд░рд╣рдорд╛рд╕рд╛ тАФ рдПрдХ рдкреНрд░рдХрд╛рд░ рдХрд╛ рдЧреАрдд, рдЬрд┐рд╕рдореЗрдВ рдмрд╛рд░рд╣реЛрдВ рдорд╣реАрдиреЗ рдХрд╛ рдмрд┐рд░рд╣-рд╡рд░реНрдгрди рд╣реЛрддрд╛ рд╣реИ: a song describing the separation of all twelve months, one by one.
- рдмрд┐рд░рд╣рд╛ тАФ рд╡рд┐рд░рд╣ рдЧреАрдд: a song of separation.
Tiwari's preface quotes one of these songs. The speaker is a woman talking to a passing traveller:
рдкрд┐рдпрд╛ рдореЛрд░ рдЧрдЗрд▓рди рдкрд░рджреЗрд╕, рдП рдмрдЯреЛрд╣реА рднрдЗрдпрд╛ред тАж рдПрдХреЛ рдирд╛ рднреЗрдЬрд╡рд▓рди рд╕рдиреЗрд╕, рдП рдмрдЯреЛрд╣реА рднрдЗрдпрд╛ред
"My beloved has gone to a foreign land, brother traveller. тАж He has not sent even one message."
The complaint, a century before phones, is that nothing arrived. That is the complaint your status line answers.
One more from the same book, to read rather than send: рдмрд╛рд▓реВ рдХреЗ рднреАрдд, рдкрд░рджреЗрд╕реА рдХреЗ рдкреНрд░реАрдд тАФ "a wall of sand; the love of a man gone abroad." It is what the village says about you while you are away.
What the three pages ranking for this query actually give you
Measured on the India-served DuckDuckGo SERP (kl=in-en) on 2026-09-25 and fetched the same day. The SERP returns three results. Not ten.
- 1 of 3 failed to fetch: howtosayguide.com at position 2 тАФ the only result promising an actual translation тАФ timed out on connect across three attempts.
- 1 of 3 carries Bhojpuri in Devanagari: shayaridaily.com, 96 couplets, 5,181 Devanagari characters, a Roman transliteration beside every one.
- 1 of 3 carries no Bhojpuri line at all: the ShareChat tag page is a feed of 33 videos and images, 135,000 views, 53 Devanagari characters on the whole page тАФ all inside hashtags.
- 0 of 3 gloss a single line into English, name a dictionary, or mention migration, рдмрд┐рджреЗрд╕рд┐рдпрд╛ or Bhikhari Thakur.
One checkable error, since status lists copy each other. Of shayaridaily's 96 couplets, 63 carry a Bhojpuri copula (рдмрд╛, рдмрд╛рдЯреЗ, рдмрд╛рдбрд╝, рдмрд╛рдиреА, рдирдЗрдЦ) and exactly one carries the Hindi copula рд╣реИ тАФ carrying both at once: рдмреЛрд▓реА рдореАрда рдмрд╛ рддреЛрд╣рд╛рд░ рдЬрдЗрд╕рди рдорд┐рд╕рд░реА рдХреЗ рдбрд▓реА, рдорди рдореЗрдВ рдмрд╕ рдЧрдЗрд▓реВ рддреВ рдЬрдЗрд╕реЗ рдмрд╕рдд рд╣реИ рдХрд▓реАред Bhojpuri in line one, Hindi in line two, in a collection whose premise is that it is not Hindi.
For most people searching this, it is not a romance query
Bhojpuri is spoken across eastern Uttar Pradesh, western Bihar and the Nepal Terai, and that region is one of India's great labour-sending zones. The person typing this is often not a boyfriend.
The honest number, and the only general statistic here: a survey of 1,588 rural households across six Bihar districts (IHD Bihar Household Survey 2016, reported in The Indian Journal of Labour Economics) found nearly two-thirds of households had at least one migrant member, and two-thirds of those migrants had been away ten months or more in the preceding twelve. Under 6% were away five months or less; more than 90% went to another state.
Read what that measures: rural households, six districts, one survey year тАФ not a national rate, and not a figure about Bhojpuri speakers. The same paper warns that the Census and the NSS both undercount migration, being built for long-term moves and blind to circular ones, which is why a headline percentage would be the wrong thing to quote.
Ten months of twelve. That is the absence your status line sits on top of.
What our own pages show, and where /missyou-gf is the wrong page
The honest mismatch: our "I miss you" page is built for a girlfriend or partner. If you are a son in Surat writing to parents in Chhapra, it is the wrong register тАФ a romantic page sent to a mother is a worse error than a wrong pronoun.
| What you need | /missyou-gf? | What our miss-you pages show |
|---|---|---|
| Writing to a partner | Yes, built for it | 92.1% of miss-you pages carry at least one "open when" letter (197 of 214), 3.2 on average and 6 at most тАФ measured 2026-09-25 |
| Writing to parents | No, register is romantic | 86.4% of miss-you pages carry at least one written memory (185 of 214), 4.5 on average and 12 at most тАФ measured 2026-09-25 |
| Ten months, checked daily | No, one page sent once | Median gap between a miss-you page's first save and its last edit: 2.6 hours, n=214 тАФ measured 2026-09-25 |
| Cheap phone, metered data | Partly тАФ page, not video | 2,417 recorded views of miss-you pages, 11.3 per page on average, 104 on the single most-opened page тАФ measured 2026-09-25 |
For the ten-month version, the daily streak page is the honest alternative: two people, one tap a day, each check-in keeping a word, until after a hundred days there is a diary neither of you meant to write. One tap costs almost nothing in data, and it survives an absence a single page cannot. If neither suits, browse the rest. Our post on what "yaar" adds to "miss you" takes the Hindi side of this question; this one takes the language that is not Hindi.
Three things we cannot tell you. Our database records which template was opened, never who received it, so we cannot say whether any of these pages went to a parent. Miss-you pages name 47 distinct city pairs drawn from a 15-city picker, including cross-border pairs such as Mumbai-London and Berlin-London тАФ measured 2026-09-25 тАФ but city is a picker with a default, so that is a list of options people left alone, not evidence of where senders live, which matters more here than anywhere else in this batch. And n = 214 over two months, with recorded views counting page views, not unique visitors.
