- • Propose Day 2027 is Monday 8 February; Rose Day is Sunday 7 February and Valentine's Day Sunday 14 February.
- • 11 lines published from 16 drafted — the five cuts, and the reason each failed verification, are listed on the page.
- • Assamese writes ra as ৰ (U+09F0, aliased 'Assamese letter ra' in the Unicode Character Database 18.0.0), not the Bengali র (U+09B0); all 11 lines scan to zero occurrences of U+09B0.
- • Assamese has 32.6 million tokens in AI4Bharat's IndicCorp against Hindi's 1,860 million, and Google's cld3 does not detect the language at all — which is why autocorrect fails it.

Propose Day Wishes in Assamese: 11 Lines I Could Verify
Propose Day wishes in Assamese are what this page gives you: 11 lines, each in অসমীয়া script with a Roman reading, an English gloss, and the instrument I checked it against. Propose Day 2027 falls on Monday 8 February.
I drafted 16 and published 11; the five that failed verification are listed below with the reason.
Two figures for scale, measured 2026-09-24 and both platform-wide across all 21 SubhSandesh page types: 5,148 personalised pages created since 2026-03-12, and 48.3% of the 56,886 recorded views opened on a phone — the screen your Assamese has to render on. Below: the তই / তুমি / আপুনি register decision, the lines, and how I confirmed the text is Assamese and not Bengali.
What a Propose Day wish in Assamese has to get right
A Propose Day wish in Assamese is a short line sent on 8 February asking someone to be your girlfriend or boyfriend — in Indian usage that first ask, not a marriage proposal, is what "propose" means.
Valentine week 2027 runs eight dated days: Rose Day Sunday 7 February, Propose Day Monday 8 February, Valentine's Day Sunday 14 February. Monday is a working day, so the line is read between two other things.
Assamese adds a requirement English does not have: you choose your "you" before your words, because the verb ending moves with it.
তই, তুমি or আপুনি: the register decides the verb, not just the pronoun
Assamese has three second-person pronouns and they are not swappable. Seuji Sharma's study of Assamese nominal morphology in Himalayan Linguistics 20(2), Gauhati University, 2021, tabulates them with the accusative marker -k: তই (non-honorific) becomes তোক, তুমি (familiar) তোমাক, আপুনি (honorific) আপোনাক. First-person মই becomes মোক by the same rule.
The verb follows. In the future তুমি takes -বা (থাকিবা), আপুনি -ব (থাকিব), তই -বি (থাকিবি). Right pronoun with the wrong ending reads as an error, not warmth.
For this occasion: তুমি is the default for someone your own age you already talk to. আপুনি suits someone older, or someone you do not know well yet — on a first ask it reads as respect, not distance. তই belongs to people you grew up with, and lands as rude on anyone else.
11 Propose Day wishes in Assamese, with transliteration and gloss
Every line carries four fields in order: Assamese, Roman reading, English, and where I checked it. "Corpus" means the Tatoeba Assamese collection, 14,805 sentences; "dictionary" means Candrakanta Abhidhana, published by Gauhati University in 1962 and digitised by the Digital Dictionaries of South Asia.
1. মই তোমাক ভাল পাওঁ।
Moi tumak bhal pao. — "I love you." Checked: in the corpus verbatim; ভাল পা is a dictionary headword. Send it when the answer is already half yes.
2. মই তোমাক মৰম কৰোঁ।
Moi tumak morom koro. — "I hold you dear." Checked: corpus verbatim; মৰম and কৰা are headwords. Warmer, less final than ভাল পাওঁ.
3. তুমি মোৰ লগত নাচি ভাল পাবানে?
Tumi mor logot nasi bhal pabane? — "Would you like to dance with me?" Checked: corpus verbatim. The lowest-stakes line here, and the one leaving a way back.
4. তুমি মোৰ লগত থাকিবানে?
Tumi mor logot thakibane? — "Will you stay with me?" Checked: composed from two verbatim strings, তুমি ঘৰতে থাকিবানে and মোৰ লগত, the latter in 56 sentences. The actual ask.
5. মই তোমাৰ লগত গোটেই জীৱন থাকিব বিচাৰোঁ।
Moi tumar logot goteiy jibon thakib bisaro. — "I want to spend my whole life with you." Checked: থাকিব বিচাৰোঁ, গোটেই জীৱন and তোমাৰ লগত each appear verbatim. Too heavy for a first ask.
6. মই তোমাৰ উত্তৰৰ বাবে ৰৈ আছোঁ।
Moi tumar uttoror babe roi aso. — "I am waiting for your answer." Checked: আপোনাৰ উত্তৰৰ বাবে ৰৈ আছোঁ is corpus verbatim; উত্তৰ and বাবে are headwords. Send once, never twice.
7. মই আপোনাক ভাল পাওঁ।
Moi aponak bhal pao. — "I love you," honorific. Checked: মই আপোনাক বেয়া পাওঁ gives the frame; ভাল পাওঁ appears in 74 sentences. Use if আপুনি is already your register.
8. আপুনি মোৰ লগত নাচি ভাল পাবনে?
Apuni mor logot nasi bhal pabne? — "Would you like to dance with me?", honorific. Checked: corpus verbatim, beside its তুমি twin at line 3, showing the -বা / -ব contrast.
9. মই আপোনাৰ উত্তৰৰ বাবে ৰৈ আছোঁ।
Moi aponar uttoror babe roi aso. — "I am waiting for your answer," honorific. Checked: corpus verbatim, with মই … ৰৈ আছোঁ attested separately. Waiting sounds patient, not pressing.
10. মই তোক ভাল পাওঁ।
Moi tok bhal pao. — "I love you," intimate. Checked: মই তোক বেয়া পাওঁ gives the frame; তোক is Sharma's accusative of তই. Only for someone always called তই.
11. তই মোৰ লগত থাকিবিনে?
Toi mor logot thakibine? — "Will you stay with me?", intimate. Checked: তই ব'ষ্টনত ক'ত থাকিবি gives the -বি future, পাৰিবিনে the -বিনে question. The riskiest line here.
ৰ and ৱ: how I checked these lines are Assamese and not Bengali
Assamese is a language of its own, not a Bengali variant. Archita Bhattacharyya's comparative analysis of the two languages' pronominals in Space and Culture, India (2020) sets the same sentences side by side — Assamese moi etiyao against Bengali ami ekhono, iyat against ekhane — and finds them rooted together but diverging in use.
They also share a Unicode block, and two letters separate them. The Unicode Character Database 18.0.0 names U+09F0 "BENGALI LETTER RA WITH MIDDLE DIAGONAL" and gives it the alias Assamese letter ra — that is ৰ. U+09F1 carries the alias Assamese letter wa — ৱ.
Bengali's own ra is U+09B0, র. A Bengali keyboard hands you র, and the sentence stops being Assamese.
So I ran a codepoint scan over all 11 lines: zero occurrences of U+09B0, 16 of ৰ, one of ৱ. A Bengali blocklist — আমি, আমার, তোমাকে, ভালোবাসি, করি, আছি, এখন, আপনাকে and 20 more — returned zero hits.
I counted the same characters in the instruments. The 14,805-sentence corpus has 26,205 ৰ against 11 র, all 11 in Latin loanwords like প্র'চেছৰ.
The UD_Assamese-AiW treebank, 73 hand-annotated sentences, still carries six tokens with Bengali র — প্রশ্ন, দ্রাঘিমা, নির্দেশনা and three more — against 242 of ৰ. Linguists annotating by hand leak Bengali at one token in 114; your phone will do worse.
Why Assamese text is thin online, and where to send the line anyway
This is not a hunch. AI4Bharat's IndicCorp figures in IndicNLPSuite, Findings of EMNLP 2020, put Assamese at 32.6 million tokens against Hindi's 1,860 million and Bengali's 836 million — the smallest collection in the set alongside Odia, and the language their model scored worst on.
The same group's 2023 follow-up places Assamese in class 2 of Joshi's six-class taxonomy, where Hindi and Bengali sit at class 5, and records that Google's cld3 identifier does not detect Assamese at all. A tool that cannot identify it cannot autocorrect it.
The drift shows up inside the instruments. The digitised Candrakanta Abhidhana returns no headword containing ৱ — it lists হোবা, পোবা and জীবন where current writing has হোৱা, পোৱা and জীৱন, confirmed in the corpus at 174, 170 and 70 hits against zero for the ব spellings. I followed the corpus, and flag it rather than hide it.
Where the line goes matters too. SubhSandesh's animated "I love you" page is the most-viewed template at 16,998 views, 29.9% of all page views measured 2026-09-24, and it fits this ask because in India "propose" means asking someone to be your girlfriend.
The proposal scrapbook is the marriage version. Both are English-language: you get the design and the link, and paste your Assamese in yourself. There is no Assamese interface and no Assamese help text.
| Way to send it | What she gets | What it costs | Platform-wide figure bearing on it |
|---|---|---|---|
| WhatsApp, Assamese script | the line as typed, ৰ and ৱ intact | nothing, if typed on an Assamese keyboard | 48.3% of 56,886 views open on a phone |
| A page with script, Roman and gloss | all three readings at once | the template stays English | 90.9% of started pages are shared, 4,679 of 5,148 |
| Roman only, moi tumak bhal pao | a line she reads fast, no font risk | the ৰ / ৱ distinction, which exists only in script | none — SubhSandesh measures pages, not messages |
Send the script if you typed it yourself; add the Roman if her font is in doubt.
What I drafted, cut and published
I drafted 16 and published 11. The five cuts are specific, not stylistic.
তুমি মোৰ হ'বানে? ("Will you be mine?") — হ'বা appears 13 times in the corpus, every one a predicate adjective. The possessive reading is attested nowhere.
মই তোমাৰ বাবে চিৰদিন ৰৈ থাকিম। ("I'll wait for you forever.") — চিৰদিন occurs once in 14,805 sentences, only as চিৰদিনৰ বাবে, and ৰৈ থাকিম is unattested. Also the wrong thing to promise someone who has not answered.
আজি মই তোমাক এটা কথা ক'ব খুজিছোঁ। ("I want to tell you something today.") — এটা কথা ক returns zero corpus hits; no instrument settles the classifier.
মোৰ জীৱনৰ সপোন তুমি। ("You are the dream of my life.") — সপোন is a headword, but জীৱনৰ সপোন returns zero hits and reads as a calque.
মই তোৰ হাতখন ধৰিব বিচাৰোঁ। ("I want to hold your hand.") — হাতখন ধৰ appears once, in a sentence about pain.
When an Assamese Propose Day line is the wrong thing to send
If she writes to you in English, send English. A sudden switch into Assamese on 8 February reads as performance, and a wrong register is noticed before the sentiment is.
If you cannot type Assamese, do not paste translator output. This is the language the tooling gets wrong, and the failure is invisible to you — a Bengali র looks fine until a reader who knows it sees it.
If you are not close enough to ask, no line fixes that. If she does not answer, line 6 was your one send. Ask once, then stop; the absence of a reply is the reply.
