- • Propose Day 2027 is Monday 8 February; Rose Day is Sunday 7 and Valentine's Day Sunday 14, so Valentine week runs eight dated days.
- • Ten Urdu lines here were checked against Platts' dictionary and the 138,077-token UD Urdu treebank; seven drafted lines were cut, one because its verb appears in the corpus only as a person's name.
- • Urdu usually leaves short vowels unwritten, so every line carries a Roman transliteration: one spelling can be read in two, three or four ways.
- • Use tum with a partner and aap with anyone else. The written form of tu appears 262 times in the treebank, but only 24 of those are the pronoun.
- • SubhSandesh's templates are English and left-to-right: 5,148 pages created across 21 page types, 38.5% password-protected, and none of them set Urdu in Nastaliq.

Propose Day Wishes in Urdu, Checked Against the Dictionary
Propose Day wishes in Urdu are easy to find and hard to trust. Propose Day 2027 falls on Monday 8 February, a working day, and the ten lines below were each checked word by word against Platts' Dictionary of Urdu, Classical Hindi and English and the Universal Dependencies Urdu treebank before being published. Seventeen were drafted and seven cut, each with its reason.
On the tool side, SubhSandesh has 5,148 personalised pages created since 2026-03-12 across 21 page types, and 38.5% of creators password-protect a page before sharing it (1,983 of 5,148) — both platform-wide across all 21 page types, not proposal-page figures, because no proposal-specific data exists here. Every line carries a Roman transliteration, an English gloss and a register mark.
What a Propose Day wish in Urdu is, and why it needs a Roman line
A Propose Day wish in Urdu is a short spoken line in the Perso-Arabic script, read right to left and set in Nastaʿlīq rather than the Naskh used for Arabic. It is not a translated Hindi wish, and not a ghazal couplet, which is a different artefact.
At the everyday conversational layer, Hindi and Urdu are one language written two ways. Sunil Kumar Bhatt's 2018 paper argues that different scripts are not a sufficient basis for calling something two languages, citing Serbian in Cyrillic and Latin.
Grammarians agree: Peter Hook's 2026 paper in Bhasha describes a verb alternation as a feature of "Hindi-Urdu" grammar, one system. They diverge in the high register: Hindi draws on Sanskrit, Urdu on Persian and Arabic. Romantic Urdu sits on that seam.
The script is the other half. Urdu usually does not write its short vowels, so one spelling serves both is ("this") and us ("that"), and Bhatt's consequence is that such a word can be read in two, three or four ways.
Many Indians also speak Urdu fluently without reading Nastaʿlīq: he records that most university Hindi-Urdu programmes teach Devanagari first and reach the Urdu script only around week six or seven. A proposal is the wrong place to make someone guess.
How each line on this page was verified
Two instruments, applied to every content word and inflected form. Platts' Dictionary of Urdu, Classical Hindi, and English at the Digital Dictionaries of South Asia, University of Chicago, for headwords and attested senses. Then the Universal Dependencies Urdu treebank UD_Urdu-UDTB — 5,130 sentences, 138,077 tokens — for whether a form occurs in real text and what part of speech it carries.
The treebank is newswire, and that bites. Five ordinary Urdu words for longing, love and trust — tamannā, ārzū, pyār, ulfat, bharosā, all in Platts — occur zero times in those 138,077 tokens. A 2021 study in Corporum inventoried Urdu conjunct predicates from the same corpus, describing a noun plus a light verb acting as one constituent, the frame behind muḥabbat hai.
10 Propose Day wishes and messages in Urdu
Each entry gives the Urdu line, its transliteration, the English sense, register and dictionary check. The Urdu sits alone with Urdu punctuation only — the one arrangement that renders reliably in mixed-direction text.
1. The plain one
تم سے محبت ہے، اور آج کہنے کی ہمت ہوئی۔
tum se muḥabbat hai, aur āj kahne kī himmat huī
"I love you, and today I found the courage to say it."
Register tum. Platts: himmat, "resolution… courage". For someone you talk to daily.
2. The direct ask
کیا تم میرے ساتھ رہو گی؟
kyā tum mere sāth raho gī?
"Will you stay with me?"
Register tum, to a woman; a man takes raho ge. Platts: rahnā, "to remain, abide… continue".
3. The one that names what it is
یہ دل کی بات ہے۔
yih dil kī bāt hai
"This is a matter of the heart."
Register neutral. Platts lists bāt as "saying… matter… proposal, aim" — the noun already carries it.
4. The consent line
تمہاری مرضی سب سے پہلے ہے۔
tumhārī marzī sab se pahle hai
"Your wish comes before everything."
Register tum. Platts: marzī, "assent, consent; choice; will" — the ordinary word for consent.
5. The one that removes the deadline
جواب کے لیے وقت لو۔
javāb ke liye waqt lo
"Take your time over the answer."
Register tum. The imperative lo is one of only 20 imperatives in the treebank, tagged Polite=Infm — tum grade.
6. The one that accepts a no
جواب کچھ بھی ہو، مجھے منظور ہے۔
javāb kuchh bhī ho, mujhe manzūr hai
"Whatever the answer is, I accept it."
Register tum-neutral. Platts: manzūr, "approved of, admitted, accepted". For proposing to a friend.
7. The blessing, when you are not asking
خدا کرے تم ہمیشہ خوش رہو۔
khudā kare tum hamesha khush raho
"May you always be happy."
Register tum. Platts: khush, "cheerful, glad, happy… content". For Propose Day when you have decided not to propose.
8. The respectful opener
آپ سے ایک بات کرنی ہے، اگر اجازت ہو۔
āp se ek bāt karnī hai, agar ijāzat ho
"There is something I want to say to you, if I may."
Register āp. Platts: ijāzat, "permission, liberty, leave… sanction". For an early-stage or formal ask.
9. The āp-grade commitment
مجھے آپ کا ساتھ ہمیشہ کے لیے چاہیے۔
mujhe āp kā sāth hamesha ke liye chāhiye
"I want your companionship, always."
Register āp. Platts: sāth, "company, society… together"; chāhiye runs to 71 treebank tokens.
10. The greeting
آج کا دن مبارک ہو۔
āj kā din mubārak ho
"May today be blessed for you."
Register neutral. Platts: mubārak, "blessed; happy, auspicious". Caution: 15 of its 20 treebank tokens are the proper noun Mubarak, so frequency misleads.
To send a line as more than a grey chat bubble, an "I love you" page for a partner holds a message and photo behind one link — third most-created here at 1,178 pages, 22.9% platform-wide, and most-viewed at 16,998 views. In Indian usage "propose" usually means asking someone to be your girlfriend, which fits most of this traffic; for the marriage ask, the proposal scrapbook page is built around the question itself.
Tū, tum or āp — the register choice that matters most
Urdu has three second-person pronouns, and choosing wrong is the most visible mistake a non-native writer makes. Every line above uses tum or āp.
Platts' entry for tū is unusually explicit: "Thou (used to imply depreciation or contempt; or by way of familiarity, or endearment; or, in addressing the Deity, to imply extreme reverence)." Contempt and endearment share one headword, and the reader decides which you meant.
The treebank shows why frequency lists mislead. The written form of tū appears 262 times, but only 24 are tagged a pronoun: 197 are a conjunction and 39 a particle, both roughly "then".
Platts labels āp "pron. rever.", and 26 of its 69 pronoun tokens are tagged Polite=Form.
The three forms, written:
تو
تم
آپ
| Pronoun | Platts sense | UD treebank pronoun tokens | Use for a proposal? |
|---|---|---|---|
| tū | familiarity, endearment or contempt | 24 of 262 total | No |
| tum | 2nd person, plural form | 11 | Yes, default for a partner |
| āp | reverential, "You, Sir" | 69, of which 26 Polite=Form | Yes, for an early or formal ask |
Ornate is the other half. Harish Trivedi's 2017 study of Premchand — who founded the modern novel in both languages, publishing in Urdu from 1903 — records that he once wrote a deliberately Persianised speech for an audience he assumed was highly literate, and that one listener "quaked before such heavy literary artillery". If that register stopped a native speaker in 1936, it can lose a reader on WhatsApp in 2027.
What was cut, and why
Seven drafted lines did not make it. Roman only, so a rejected line cannot be copied by accident.
kyā tum merī bano gī? — bano occurs once, tagged a proper noun; the verb is unattested.
kyā tum merā sāth do gī? — do occurs 142 times, 139 as the numeral "two", with zero verb tokens.
hāṅ yā nah, donoṅ qabūl haiṅ — all three tokens of hāṅ are tagged a postposition, never the interjection "yes".
chalo, sāth chalte haiṅ — chalo occurs once, tagged an interjection, not a verb.
tumhāre baghair din pūrā nahīṅ hotā — 39 treebank tokens, but Platts returned no headword for baghair.
yih bāt bahut pahle kahnī thī — kahnī occurs once, tagged a noun, and it also means "elbow".
har din tumhāre nām hai — passed both instruments, cut on editorial grounds: it reads as an English greeting-card line put into Urdu.
The group built on tamannā, ārzū, pyār, ulfat and bharosā went for the reason above.
Where an Urdu line breaks on a web page
Urdu is right-to-left and most template tools are not. The Unicode Bidirectional Algorithm, Unicode Standard Annex #9, revision 52 of 1 September 2026, states that bidirectional characters are interpreted in logical order and only the display is affected, and that implicit ordering is sometimes "not sufficient to produce comprehensible text". A full stop, bracket or Roman word beside an Urdu phrase can land on the side you did not intend, which is why every line here sits alone.
This is where SubhSandesh loses. The proposal scrapbook and the "I love you" page are English-language and left-to-right.
An Urdu line pasted into a field will store, but layout, buttons and copy stay English and LTR, and nothing sets your line in Nastaʿlīq. An Urdu reader gets your words, not an Urdu page.
If they read the script, their own keyboard app beats any template here; if they speak Urdu but cannot read it, the voice dedication page fits better, because a recording carries the short vowels the writing leaves out.
One last limit: the median gap from a page's first save to its last edit is 2.2 hours, sampled on the apology dashboard, n=1,375, and 90.9% of started pages are published and shared (4,679 of 5,148) — both platform-wide across 21 page types. A same-evening habit, and 8 February 2027 is a Monday, so the Sunday before is the realistic window.
